SuperLega UnipolSai round 14 (first return games:

Biosì Indexa Sora-Azimut Modena 0-3 (17-25, 16-25, 18-25); Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia-Diatec Trentino 3-2 (17-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-7); Revivre Milano-Exprivia Molfetta 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-19); Calzedonia Verona-Top Volley Latina 3-1 (33-31, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24); Bunge Ravenna-Kioene Padova 3-1 (25-17, 35-37, 25-14, 25-21); Cucine Lube Civitanova-Gi Group Monza 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-20); Sir Safety Conad Perugia-LPR Piacenza 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 25-14)

Bunge Ravenna – Kioene Padova 3-1 (25-17, 35-37, 25-14, 25-21)

Bunge Ravenna: Spirito 6, Lyneel 18, Ricci 8, Torres 26, Van Garderen 17, Bossi 6, Goi (L), Grozdanov 0, Raffaelli 0, Kaminski 1, Marchini 0. DNP. Leoni, Calarco. Coach. Soli.

Kioene Padova: Shaw 0, Maar 12, Averill 3, Giannotti 18, Fedrizzi 6, Volpato 12, Balaso (L), Sestan 0, Zoppellari 3, Koncilja 6. DNP. Link, Bassanello, Milan. Coach. Baldovin.

Third consecutive victory on home soil for Ravenna. Soli’s men had the better of Padova in four sets behind an excellent performance from MVP Torres, Van Garderen and Ricci. Thanks to this win, they move above Padova in ninth position.

Fabio Soli (coach Bunge Ravenna): “We were a bit disappointed with our first half of season, if we want to go higher we know we have to step up a gear, but it’s hard to do. The team has talent and this is in these games, against teams of our level that we have to give it all. We had to go through some difficulties, and that’s with a resilient attitude that we can overcome those challenges. This win will give us a boost for the coming games ».

Valerio Baldovin (coach Kioene Padova): “Credit to Ravenna for its good performance. We struggled too much in attack, we have not been consistent enough. When we are consistent, we play good volleyball, like in the second set won beyond the 25 points. However, we paid cash for our mistakes, that’s what happens in a tough league like the SuperLega. We’ll try to bounce back even if the next game is anything but easy. Hopefully, we’ll come out of this negative run ».

Cucine Lube Civitanova – Gi Group Monza 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-20)

Cucine Lube Civitanova: Christenson 2, Juantorena 12, Stankovic 12, Sokolov 13, Kaliberda 13, Cester 3, Pesaresi (L), Grebennikov 0. DNP. Casadei, Candellaro, Cebulj, Corvetta, Kovar. Coach. Blengini.

Gi Group Monza: Jovovic 4, Botto 3, Beretta 9, Hirsch 6, Fromm 6, Verhees 4, Brunetti (L), Galliani 0, Rizzo (L), Terpin 0, Dzavoronok 2, Daldello 0. DNP. Forni. Coach. Falasca.

The best medicine for Civitanova is the Eurosuole Forum and its fans. After two consectuive road losses, including the European debut in Berlin, they got back on track with a sweep on Monza, which means they stay top of the table. MVP Dragan Stankovic (Cucine Lube Civitanova)

Dragan Stankovic (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “They have improved a lot since we first met, they made it hard for us in various situations. I really think this is a crucial victory. We got back on track after back to back defeats and now we want to keep up the good work ».

Miguel Angel Falasca (coach Gi Group Monza): “In the first set, we struggled in attack, but we managed to stay close thanks to our dig and blocking. The second set was a disaster, while in the third set we reacted, and after playing face to face for a while they obtained victory because they were more consistent in the long run ».

Biosì Indexa Sora – Azimut Modena 0-3 (17-25, 16-25, 18-25)

Biosì Indexa Sora: Seganov 1, Tiozzo 2, Mattei 3, Miskevich 11, Rosso 8, Sperandio 5, Kalinin 1, Santucci (L), Lucarelli 0, Marrazzo 1, De Marchi 0. DNP. Mauti, Gotsev. Coach. Bagnoli.

Azimut Modena: Orduna 1, Ngapeth E. 13, Le Roux 10, Vettori 11, Massari 8, Piano 5, Salsi 0, Rossini (L), Onwuelo 4. DNP. Holt, Ngapeth S., Petric. Coach. Piazza.

Sora unfolded the red carpet for the visit of Modena. The latter stopped the positive run of a team that had to make do without Kalinin and Gotsev, out with the flu. The visitors had a strong serve, they registered 8 aces, 5 of which coming from the MVP Jacopo Massari. Before the start, Byelorussian outside hitter received his MVP award for the month of November.

Bruno Bagnoli (coach BioSì Indexa Sora): “A poor game, we struggled from start to finish in each of the three sets. I don’t want to make excuses, but we were without Kalinin and Gotsev, both had the flu. We did not play to our full potential, we did not spike well, we have been inaccurate even on easy plays. A game to forget as soon as possible ».

Roberto Piazza (coach Azimut Modena): “We’re delighted because we managed to rest some players who really needed it. Sora did the same because they know that the important games for them are others. We knew it was going to be tough here in Sora so we’re happy with the results and look ahead with confidence ».

Sir Safety Conad Perugia – LPR Piacenza 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 21-25, 25-14)

Sir Safety Conad Perugia: De Cecco 3, Zaytsev 12, Podrascanin 11, Atanasijevic 16, Russell 6, Birarelli 13, Mitic 0, Tosi (L), Berger 1, Bari (L), Chernokozhev 0, Della Lunga 0. DNP. Franceschini, Buti. Coach. Bernardi.

LPR Piacenza: Hierrezuelo 3, Clevenot 10, Tencati 4, Hernandez Ramos 24, Marshall 5, Alletti 2, Parodi 5, Yosifov 4, Manià (L), Papi (L), Zlatanov 1, Cottarelli 0. DNP. Tzioumakas. Coach. Giuliani.

Perugia grabbed a sixth consecutive win in the SuperLega (the ninth in a row if we count the Champions League). They made the most of their excellent serve to defeat Piacenza in a heated atmosphere. Coach Lorenzetti is still unbeaten since he took over the Perugia bench. Birarelli scored 5 of the hosts’ ten aces, but the MVP was Atanasijevic with 16 points and 68% in attack ; Zaytsev and Podrascanin were on song too. De Cecco was distributing brilliantly as usual with Bari received well.

Andrea Bari (Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “We knew their main weapon was their serve, we had prepared the game in a way we’d not suffer too much in reception. Then, we hurt them with our own serve. This was one key to the game, but not the only one. I think we had a solid game, we’ve been present all the way through. We’re on the right track, but on Sunday there’s another game, we have to put this one behind us ».

Simone Parodi (LPR Piacenza): “I’d say we did well in flahes. We were afraid of their serve and they hit it strong, we knew it was their main strength. Maybe we need more patience and play the ball high in the middle of the court and play on the block. This is a lesson for us, it’s better now than later. In the last 8 months, I worked as I have never before. It was tough at times but now I feel good, I am happy and I really hope to help the team ».

Revivre Milano – Exprivia Molfetta 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-19)

Revivre Milano: Sbertoli 3, Marretta 14, Tondo 10, Starovic 20, Hoag 12, Galassi 9, Rudi (L), Cortina (L), De Togni 0, Boninfante 1. DNP. Nielsen, Galaverna, Skrimov. Coach. Monti.

Exprivia Molfetta: Pontes Veloso 1, De Barros Ferreira 20, Vitelli 2, Sabbi 0, Olteanu 13, Polo 7, Porcelli (L), De Pandis (L), Hendriks 6, Leite Costa 6, Jimenez 1, Partenio 0. DNP. Del Vecchio. Coach. Gulinelli.

The return games start just like the season had begun for Milan and Molfetta. The nothern side took all three points. Both teams were missing players : Molfetta was without Sabbi who went out in the second set with an ankle injury (0 points for him), while Milan would not line up Skrimov. Milan had no less than four spikers in double figures. Joao Rafael was outstanding for Molfetta (20 points) but that was not enough. Milan is not bottom of they table anymore, they move up one position and catch up with Moilfetta and Sora. MVP Sasha Starovic (Revivre Milano)

Sasha Starovic (Revivre Milano): “A crucial game for us. We all know we’re going through a difficult time because of the many injuries and the lack of confidence. We were tense at the start, but then we loosened up and won three consecutive sets for a deserved win. Congratulations to everyone, especially Marretta, who was among the bests. We gave it a good fight as a united group. We took advantage of the fact they were without Sabbi, but we were without Skrimov ».

Pier Paolo Partenio (Exprivia Molfetta). “Credit to Milan for taking advantage of our difficult situation. We are a bit unlucky, injuries are taking their toll. We have to come out of this situation as soon as possible, get all our players back and work in training. We have to play better in this second half of season. We will play Piacenza in the cup in mid-week, and we will try to give our best. Hopefully, Sabbi will be fit ».

Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia – Diatec Trentino 3-2 (17-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-7)

Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia: Coscione 5, Geiler 7, Costa 11, Michalovic 23, Barreto Silva 19, Barone 1, Marra (L), Torchia (L), Alves Soares 0, Diamantini 6. DNP. Maccarone, Rejlek, Izzo. Coach. Kantor.

Diatec Trentino: Giannelli 5, Lanza 15, Solé 8, Nelli 14, Urnaut 8, Van De Voorde 10, Chiappa (L), Colaci (L), Blasi 0, Stokr 2, Antonov 1, Mazzone D. 6. DNP. Burgsthaler, Mazzone T. Coach. Lorenzetti.

History repeated itself ! Vibo defeated Trentino coming back from behind to eventually clinch the tie-break. It’s been a thrilling encounter. This looked like the remake of the game played on 7 December 2012, when Vibo had come back from 2-0 down to win it in five. Trento struggled in reception in the tie-break as Vibo escaped from the get-go (6-2 then 8-3).

Manuel Coscione (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “It’s been a great game, we went crescendo. We have been mentally strong, we got better on the serve and reception as the game wore on. And that helped us to get back in it. On Wednesday we have a crucial game, even harder, and I hope the gym will be packed because the fans always give us a lot of motivation ».

Tine Urnaut (Diatec Trentino): “It’s always nice to be back here. Vibo had a great game, they’ve been perfect in dig. We really have to make some improvement in the gym, we’ll be able to work in training for the next three days now ».
