Mission accomplished for Perugia, who made the double against the Swiss of Amriswil in the Champions League preliminary round and qualified for the group stage (5 groups of 4 teams). In a superb atmosphere in the PalaEvangelisti arena, the hosts had a convincing performance as Atanasijevic and Zaytsev combined for 25 points. The block-dig department worked effectively while the visitors found it hard to contain Perugia’s serves. Bernardi even had the possibility to use his bench, only Russell and Della Lunga were cautiously rested as they take care of little physical worries. Once the preliminary rounds over, the 20 teams are divided into 5 groups of 4 teams. The two top teams of each group as well as the two best third. At this point, the CEV names the team that will host the final four among the 12 teams qualified. The host will be directly qualified to the semi-finals. For the others there will be the Playoffs 12 and then playoffs 6.
