BIOSì INDEXA SORA – SIR SAFETY CONAD PERUGIA 0-3 (22-25, 23-25, 17-25)

BIOSì INDEXA SORA: Gotsev 9, Santucci (L), Kalinin 5, Rosso 10, Mattei 5, Seganov 1, Sperandio, Miskevich 12. DNP Marrazzo, Tiozzo, Lucarelli, Mauti. Coach. Bagnoli.

Sora believed and tried its best but after an hour and twenty minutes, they had to surrender to Perugia in three sets. Sora made it hard for the visitors but Kovac’s men always found solutions when it mattered most. Sora showed some of its potential with some excellent spells but it also showed its youth in its inconsistency. Setter Luciano De Cecco (Sir Safety Conad Perugia) was crucial in victory and was named MVP.

Bruno Bagnoli (coach BioSì Indexa Sora): “We had a good game, we got better. Seganov does a great job of guiding the team, he helped us get good percentages in attack. Finishing at 56% against Perugia is excellent. Today’s we’ve seen who could be the main guys of this team with Rosso and Gotsev doing very well. Kalinin proved he could do it all and Miskevich improved his serve and understanding with the setter. We have to regain energy to face the mid-week game, knowing we can build on this good performance against a top team ».

Slobodan Kovac (coach Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “The atmosphere was really great. Hopefully we have been up to the atmosphere they created. We worked very hard to get the points but Sora tried to make it difficult for us, especially with their serve. We resisted till the end and I think we had a good game ».

TOP VOLLEY LATINA – CUCINE LUBE CIVITANOVA 1-3 (25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 18-25)

TOP VOLLEY LATINA: Klinkenberg, Fei 19, Gitto 7, Sottile, Pistolesi, Quintana Guerra 2, Rossi 8, Maruotti 11, Penchev 11, Fanuli (L). DNP Strugar. Coach. Nacci.

CUCINE LUBE CIVITANOVA: Sokolov 23, Candellaro 8, Pesaresi (L), Kaliberda 9, Juantorena 17, Stankovic 3, Christenson 5, Grebennikov, Cebulj 4. DNP Casadei, Kovar, Cester, Corvetta. Coach. Blengini.

Civitanova needed two hours of play to overcome the challenge of a feisty Latina team. Thanks to these three points, Civitanova remains unbeaten at the top of the standings. Latina had taken the better start and the first set, while Juantorena’s serves turned things around in the fourth in favour of the visitors. He was named MVP.

Daniele Sottile (Top Volley Latina): “We had a good game, four top level sets. Shame some video check decisions went against us. We have to keep working on our game, get better game after game and always look ahead ».

Osmany Juantorena (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “This has been a very difficult game. Latina made it very hard for us. We did well to stay composed to come back and win it. Now that we play every three days, what matters the most is to stay fit and keep working in the gym ».

GI GROUP MONZA – REVIVRE MILANO 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-16) – GI GROUP MONZA: Fromm 12, Dzavoronok, Galliani, Rizzo (L), Jovovic 1, Botto 10, Verhees 13, Beretta 6, Hirsch 17, Brunetti (L). DNP Daldello, Forni, Terpin. Coach. Falasca.

REVIVRE MILANO: Cortina (L), Hoag 11, Sbertoli 1, Tondo 1, De Togni 3, Galassi 2, Dennis 10, Boninfante, Starovic 9, Marretta. DNP Galaverna, Nielsen, Rudi. Coach. Monti.

Genrosity and determination as well as some excellent serves were Monza’s main weapons to stop Milan in this third round of the SuperLega. The hosts made it two wins in a row in this derby as Hirsch was named MVP. He scored 17 points (3 blocks and 3 aces).

Pieter Verhees (middle blocker Gi Group Monza): « This is an extremely important victory, not only because taking the derby is always a great satisfaction but also because this was home. We’ve been working hard in the gym and it paid off, there is a good united group. The serve is what I liked the most tonight. They struggled to deal with our serve and I think that this factor together with the intensity we put in during the whole game was the key to our victory ».

Luca Monti (head coach Revivre Milano): « Shame because we got off to an excellent start. They played better than us on the serve. They bombarded us with their floater while Fromm was in charge to hit it hard, and we found ti hard to handle this. We have to start over with some hard work in the gym, all together. Our goal should be to build a solid group, without thinking of who’s missing. We have a good team, and with hard-work in training I’m sure we’ll do well ».

BUNGE RAVENNA – AZIMUT MODENA 2-3 (29-27, 25-18, 20-25, 24-26, 13-15)

BUNGE RAVENNA: Ricci 11, Raffaelli, Van Garderen 18, Lyneel 20, Grozdanov, Goi (L), Torres 19, Bossi 5, Spirito 4, Marchini 1. DNP Calarco, Kaminski, Leoni. Coach. Soli.

AZIMUT MODENA: Cook 12, Petric 2, Orduna, Massari, Rossini (L), Ngapeth E 20, Le Roux 8, Piano 6, Holt 11, Vettori 18. DNP Ngapeth S, Onwuelo, Salsi. Coach. Piazza.

Modena clinched a hard-fought victory in Ravenna at the tie-break after training two sets to nil. Modena found its way to victory thanks to Ngapeth (MVP) and Cook who was key in the clutch time. In the tie-break, an Ngapeth ace made it 6-3 Modena, but Torres tied i tat 7. It was level again at 13 but then the Video Check changed a decision as no touch at the net was seen on a Lyneel spike out, while cook scored the winning block on Torres to make it 15-13 Modena.

Fabio Soli (coach Bunge Ravenna): “We were brilliant in the first two sets, we played at a high level, we played face to face with an extremely strong team like Modena. We have to keep this performance at heart, but we also have to remember the lesson we got in the rest of the game. We waited too much while we should have stepped up and kept doing extraordinary things ».

Roberto Piazza (coach Azimut Modena): “These are two great points won against an opponent that was more competitive than us for most of the encounter. We failed to take our chances in the first set, then from the third set on we got back on track thanks to the great players I have at my disposal ».

TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA – EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA 1-3 (27-29, 17-25, 25-19, 25-27) – TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA: Costa 3, Coscione 3, Marra (L), Geiler 11, Barreto Silva 5, Barone 5, Alves Soares 10, Diamantini 6, Rejlek 22. DNP Buzzelli, Torchia, Michalovic, Maccarone, Corrado. Coach. Kantor.

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA: Polo 11, Jimenez 2, Partenio, De Barros Ferreira 6, Pontes Veloso 2, Olteanu 10, Sabbi 35, De Pandis (L), Porcelli (L), Ropret, Di Martino 7. DNP Vitelli, Del Vecchio, Hendriks. Coach. Di Pinto.

In the ‘southern derby’, Molfetta came back from Vibo Valentia with all three points. It is therefore Di Pinto, who used to coach at Vibo, who took the first points of the season, while Vibo remains stuck at zero. Molfetta was led by a terrific Sabbi, MVP with 35 points for him with 57% in attack, and a solid De Pandis (91% in reception) who played some excellent dig.

Waldo Kantor (coach Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “We did not have much luck in certain situations we have been clinical enough at crucial moments of the game like in the fourth at 24-24. What we lack the most right now is consistency. We have to keep working hard to get better and avoid repeating our mistakes because on Wednesday we have another important game ».

Giulio Sabbi (Exprivia Molfetta): « After the disappointment of the first one home loss against Milan, we really wanted to win and take the points. We played with fighting spirit and my teammates covered a lot of ground for me. We trained with everybody fit, eventually, and that allowed us to play at our best today in a tough place like Vibo Valentia. We are delighted with this win ».

LPR PIACENZA – CALZEDONIA VERONA 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 20-25, 17-15)

LPR PIACENZA: Manià (L), Alletti 9, Papi 5, Marshall 16, Yosifov 6, Tencati 2, Hierrezuelo 7, Hernandez Ramos 25, Clevenot 7, Cottarelli. DNP Parodi, Tzioumakas, Zlatanov. Coach. Giuliani.

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 15, Kovacevic 27, Paolucci, Lecat, Ferreira 18, Giovi (L), Baranowicz 1, Mengozzi, Djuric 9, Anzani 10. DNP Holt, Frigo, Stern. Coach. Giani.

In front of 2648 fans in the PalaBianca aren a, Giuliani’s men obtained a thrilling victory. This was an exciting encounter, though with ups and downs, in which Marshall, signed this week among controversy, played a big part. In the end, Piacenza clinched it in the fifth thanks to an unstoppable Hernandez, who finished top scorer with 25 points. Marshall added 16, while the team registered 63% in reception. Papi had 61% in reception and was named MVP. He also scored the winning point.

Leonel Marshall (LPR Piacenza): “Getting back to winning in our PalaBianca arena with our fans was an incredible feeling. This was a difficult test for us tonight, but our goal is to play as well as we can to make it hard for the opposite teams. We deserved this victory for all the hard work we’re putting in during the daily training. We’re not at out best yet but when we will be we willl do great things ».

Simone Anzani (Calzedonia Verona): “This is life in volleyball. The run of serves from Hierrezuelo was key in the end. We did not play a high level game, we had a lot of ups and downs, we made too many mistakes in certain moments and Piacenza did well to make the most of our moments of weakness ».
