Ravenna grabbed its first victory of the season against Latina, who surrendered at the tie-break at the end of a hard-fought encounter that lasted over two hours. The third set was a turning point as Ravenna cancelled out no less than eight set points. In the fifth set, Ravenna got off to a great start (7-4) but Latina fought back with a Rossi block that made it 8-8. In the end, two points from the Puerto Rican star and a block from Ricci gave the hosts the win.
Maurice Torres (Bunge Ravenna): “This is a very important victory with two crucial points. Latina played well and made it very hard for us, but we did what we had to do and we managed to be solid in the clutch time. This will give us a boost and help us face the future in good spirit, with getting better as the only thing on our minds ».
Vincenzo Nacci (coach Top Volley Latina): “Unlike our debut game, I saw the boys fighting more. Unfortunately, we had some lapses and had problems on the serve, and that cost us dear. At times, we did pretty well, but that was not consistent. We still have to improve. Credit to our opponents though, who never gave up ».
