Serie A UnipolSai
Some changes in 2016-17

There will be three fundamental appointments in the coming weeks. The deadline for the club to present their request to take part in the SuperLega and Serie A2 will be on June 30. On July 9, the Admission committee will conclude its study of the paperwork handed in by the clubs and send to the Federation to clubs that will participate. Finally, July 19 will mark the beginning of the three-day Volley Market in Bologna, which will end on the 21st with the release of the official fixtures lists of the new season.

But let’s have a look at the changes that will occur.

Del Monte® Super Cup

For the first time in history, there will be four team sto fight for the first Del Monte Super Cup, won last season by Modena.

The team taking part will be the ones who earn the right to participate in the top European competitions. This season, the teams on court will therefore be DHL Modena, Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova, Sir Safety Conad Perugia (all in the Champions League 2016/17) and Diatec Trentino (CEV Cup 2016/17).

The event will take place on 24-25 September, while the venue has yet to be selected.

Video Check
Novelty: Touches at the net in the A2

The current Video Check System will be expanded for the new season with six extra cameras to control the touches and blocking deflections at the net in every single game. And from 2016-17, all the Serie A2 clubs will have the Video Check installed.

The system has been revised with a new software and new hardware system studied in collaboration with Data Project.

Serie A2 UnipolSai
Fans to launch new formula

The supporters will have a major role in this new formula of the Serie A2 UnipolSai. What will be the name of the two groups?

A total of 20 teams will acquire the right to take part. There will therefore be two groups of 10 teams. At the end of the first phase, the top teams of each group will play for promotion in a new group, while the others will play to stay up. However, in the second phase, the match-ups played in the first phase will not be repeated. The points taken in the first phase will be brought into this second phase.

And the fans will be asked to find a name for the two groups. The two divisions will be composed according to a ranking, and given that there won’t be any geographical criterias like the American conferences, the groups could have any fantasy name. Up to you!
