Latina joins Piacenza in the Challenge Playoffs final thanks to a 3-2 victory over Verona. The latter had had the better start in the tie-break but Yosifov’s run of serves turned things around (5-6). It remained tight until Hirdsch’s ace made it 12-10 for Latina, then Anzani’s dig mistake and a block on Starovic sealed it.

Viktor Yosifov (Ninfa Latina): “This is an extremely important win away from home for us. Verona is one of the best teams in the league, we’re all delighted we could show our worth and play at this level”.

Andrea Giani (coach Calzedonia Verona): “We have reached many of our goals this season. Playing at the highest level and winning the Challenge Cup was special. We have shown what it meant to be a team, we have always found the resources to overcome difficult moments. This season should be a starting point to build on, we have to be ambitious. This is the end for us today but we want to aim high in the future”.
