The Italian clash of the Champions League semi-final ended with a severe 3-0 for Trento over Civitanova. Stoytchev’s men will take on the holders of Kazan on Sunday while Blengini’s team will be up against the hosts of Rzeszow in the game for third place.

After Prague, Lodz and Bolzano, the extraordinary Trentino Volley keeps adding new chapters to its triumphant history with another moment for the memories. The Italian champs will indeed make their fourth appearance in the title game of the most important continental trophy. Trento and Kazan already met with the biggest honours at stake: it was in 2011 when the Italians lift aloft their third consecutive trophy in Bolzano. Like many times before, Stoytchev’s men came out with one of those dominant performances that was almost impossible to predict on the eve of the game. In front of over 12 thousand fans, they just played at an incredible level: the blocking and dig was sensational and that gave them so many opportunities to counter with Urnaut, Djuric (67%) and Antonov (56%) just unstoppable. There could be no better medicine for Trento after the league playoff loss against Modena. And this win will also give the Italians great confidence ahead of the final.

Radostin Stoytchev (coach Diatec Trentino): “This was already a privilege for us to participate in this Final Four. Our dream at the start of the season was to get here in Poland, and the journey has been just incredible. I am satisfied with the win but miracles happen only to those who believe. So we have to believe we can do it again tomorrow. We got off to a poor start, but then our level of play greatly increased. The guys settled down and they did what we had prepared. 12 blocks against a team like Civitanova means a lot. We tactically played very well, I am extremely satisfied about that too. Kazan is without a doubt the strongest team in the world right now. You just have to look at what they achieved in recent years, but as usual we have to keep our feet and the ground and be ready to give it all”.

Tine Urnaut (Diatec Trentino): “We did not have the best of start, we made a few mistakes, but we remained focused and got better along the way. I am so happy with this win. We went very close to perfection in terms of tactics. Kazan will be the favourites tomorrow, just like Civitanova was today, but we are determined to go all the way and win this cup”.

Ivan Miljkovic (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “They played better than us in just about every area of the game. We tried to give it a fight, but we faced a wall and never managed to find a way through”.
