Trentino made its court advantage count in the quarter-final Game 5 by putting an end to Molfetta’s excellent run this season. Just like in the four previous encounters of this series, the home side made the most of its fans support to prevail. Trento proved the better team in reception and on the serve. Other main factors of this qualification were Colaci’s digs, the effectiveness of Kaziyski (67%) and Urnaut (53%) in attack (67%), as well as the unexpected contribution from Daniele Mazzone, who did some excellent work at the net and was named MVP.
Radostin Stoytchev (coach Diatec Trentino): “We settled in the game very late, at the end of the first set. After that however, we showed character and determination, and I think we deserved our qualification into the semi-finals. Hopefully, I’ll have Djuric and Lanza back for the series against Modena, but I want to congratulate Mitar who was not that fit to play yet but he still worked hard and showed what he was made of”.
Michele Fedrizzi (Exprivia Molfetta): “It would be too easy to say that we had done our job by reaching this game 5. We played a decent game, with maximum effort but we lacked composure in the clutch time of the game, meaning the fourth set. This is a huge disappointment”.
