The UnipolSai MVP award for the month of February went to CMC Romagna’s spiker Armando Torres. The Puerto Rican outside hitter helped his team beat Trento, Piacenza and Latina with 25, 26 and 24 points respectively.
Currently second in the scoring charts of the regular season behind Atanasijevic from Perugia, Torres will receive his award on Saturday 12 March before the Playoffs Challenge home game against Milan.
Italian Lega supports AIL initiative
From March 11 to 13, the AIL (Italian Association against Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma) will promote the 23rd edition of the “AIL Easter Eggs”. The event is under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic and realized thanks the commitment of thousands of volunteers who will offer a chocolate egg to those who will pay a minimum membership fee of 12 Euros. AIL Easter Eggs are characterized by logo of the Association.
The event has allowed over the years to raise significant funds for the support of research and assistance projects and helped to raise awareness of the progress of scientific research in the field of blood disorders. The significant results in scientific studies and increasingly effective and targeted therapies, including stem cell transplantation, resulted in a great improvement in the diagnosis and treatment of haematological patients. We must continue on this path to achieve more goals and make Leukaemia, lymphomas and myelomas increasingly curable.
The funds raised are used to reach various goals, including: supporting scientific research; finance the GIMEMA Group (Italian Group of Hematologic Diseases) who works with the aim to identify and disseminate the best diagnostic and therapeutic standards for blood diseases; collaborate in the Home Care service for adults and children to ensure the therapies in their familiar environment; continue to build care accommodations – “Ail houses” near the therapy centers to allow patients who live far away to deal with long periods of care assisted by family members; build game rooms and schools in hospitals.
