Italians as group winners

2016 DenizBank Champions League

Celebration in the Italian clan accompanied the end of the Champions League group phase. Modena, Civitanova and Trentino all won their respective group and will therefore be seeded in Thursday’s playoffs 12 draw.

Civitanova was the only one already certain to finish top before the last game. Indeed, the 3-1 defeat conceded against Roeselare had no influence on its standing. The Belgium side, on the other hand, will enter the CEV Cup challenge round.

Modena still had a job to do to secure first place and they accomplished their mission with a 3-0 home win over the Slovenian of Ljubljana.

Same result for Trento in Maaseik to stay top of the group. Stoytchev’s men had an outstanding performance at the net with 13 blocks, 5 for Sebastian Solé.

The draw for the knock out stage of the Playoffs 12 will take place in Luxembourg on Thursday 28 January. The name of the club to host the Final Four will also be revealed.
