SuperLega UnipolSai results:

Calzedonia Verona-Exprivia Molfetta 2-3 (25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 19-25, 8-15); Revivre Milano-DHL Modena 0-3 (18-25, 19-25, 15-25); Tonazzo Padova-LPR Piacenza – 25/01/2016 alle 20:30 Dir. RAI Sport 2; Ninfa Latina-Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova 0-3 (18-25, 16-25, 17-25); Diatec Trentino-Sir Safety Conad Perugia 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-18); CMC Romagna-Gi Group Monza 1-3 (23-25, 25-19, 24-26, 18-25)

CMC ROMAGNA – GI GROUP MONZA 1-3 (23-25, 25-19, 24-26, 18-25)

CMC ROMAGNA: Mengozzi 2, Ricci 13, Cavanna 2, Della Lunga 3, Van Garderen 19, Polo 2, Koumentakis 5, Goi (L), Torres 17, Boswinkel 1, Bari (L), Perini De Aviz. DNP Zappoli. Coach. Kantor.

GI GROUP MONZA: Raic 3, Daldello 1, Galliani, Jovovic 2, Rizzo (L), Botto 22, Verhees 10, Beretta 11, Zanatta Buiatti 10, Rousseaux 10. DNP Sala, Mercorio, Brunetti, Gao. Coach. Vacondio.

Monza took revenge on the loss conceded against CMC Romagna earlier this season. This time Vacondio’s men won it 3-1 at the end of a hard-fought and entertaining game. The visitors got a monster performance from Jacopo Botto, who scored 22 points (3 aces, 62% in reception). As for the hosts, Van Garderen (19 points, 57%) and Ricci (13 points with 4 blocks) were the men who stood out. The hosts lacked consistency and the capacity to be clinical in the clutch time to be able to win it. MVP Jacopo Botto (Gi Group Monza)

Maurice Torres (CMC Romagna): “It’s been really hard today, we did not manage to do as we’d have liked. We lacked conviction in the difficult times, like at the end of the first and third set. That was key. We made too many silly mistakes and we did not manage to replicate the level of play of last week against Molfetta”.

Oreste Vacondio (coach Gi Group Monza): “I think we have a good team, even if at times we make mistakes because we’re too tense. The break got us reset like at the start of the season: we had lost 3-4 players for a month and we had lost our rhythm. We really needed this victory. Given the current situation, the three points will give us confidence and enable us to face the next game without too much pressure. A defeat today would have complicated things”.

NINFA LATINA – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE CIVITANOVA 0-3 (18-25, 16-25, 17-25) NINFA LATINA: Mattei 1, Sottile, Sket 5, Pavlov, Romiti (L), Tailli 2, Hirsch 12, Yosifov 8, Rossi 1, Maruotti 6. DNP Krumins, Ferenciac. Coach. Placì.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE CIVITANOVA: Fei 13, Juantorena 7, Christenson 7, Cester 11, Grebennikov (L), Cebulj 12, Podrascanin 10. DNP Gabriele, Parodi, Vitelli, Stankovic, Miljkovic, Corvetta. Coach. Blengini.

Civitanova came back from Latina with a straight set victory. All one-way traffic as the hosts never managed to give any trouble to their opponent. MVP Christenson did a great job of receiving and finding his middle blockers.

Gabriele Maruotti (Ninfa Latina): “It’s disappointing we did not play with more competitive spirit and you can’t afford to do that against a team like Civitanova. We’ll gather up and talk about it, then we’ll get back down to work in training”.

Alessandro Fei (Cucine Lube Banca marche Civitanova): “We had a good game. We did well on the serve which made it hard for their reception. Latina is a great team but if they did not manage to get in the game today it’s also credit to us”.

CALZEDONIA VERONA – EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA 2-3 (25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 19-25, 8-15) – CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 6, Kovacevic 21, Pesaresi (L), Gitto, Lecat 1, Spirito, Baranowicz 1, Starovic 16, Sander 15, Anzani 7. DNP Frigo, Bellei, Bucko. Coach. Giani.

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA: Candellaro 6, Randazzo 5, Del Vecchio 1, De Barros Ferreira 8, Barone 5, De Pandis (L), Hierrezuelo 1, Fedrizzi 10, Hernandez Ramos 26. DNP Kaczynski, Spadavecchia, Mariella, Porcelli, Cormio. Coach. Montagnani.

Molfetta wins in Verona’s PalaOlimpia arena. The game finished at the tie-break like in the first meeting between the two clubs, but this time it went to the Apulia team. Once again, Molfetta found its main inspiration from outside hitter Hernandez, who scored 26 points. Special mention too for Raphael who came on in the fourth set and stayed for the fifth too, scoring 8 points, 4 of them on the serve. MVP Fernando Hernandez (Exprivia Molfetta)

Andrea Giani (coach Calzedonia Verona): “We have to congratulate Molfetta who managed to come back from behind several times to eventually win it. I have noticed a lot of presumption from a few players in the fifth and I did not like that at all. It’s not the opponent who makes the difference but always your own attitude and quality. In the fourth set, we were 16-13 up, two break points ahead, we never made another break point from there. This is one of our strengths but it never happened any more”.

Michele Fedrizzi (Exprivia Molfetta): “It’s been great to come back to Verona. We have definitely been a bit tense in the first set. We knew it was going to be a tough game. Once we managed to make things hard for them with our serve, things have changed. When they faded a bit, we made the most of it. That was the key to win it”.

REVIVRE MILANO – DHL MODENA 0-3 (18-25, 19-25, 15-25)

REVIVRE MILANO: Milushev 9, Alletti 3, Sbertoli 1, Skrimov 5, Russomanno Dos Santos 5, Tosi (L), De Togni 6, Boninfante 1, Marretta 1. DNP Gavenda, Rivan, Baranek, Burgsthaler. Coach. Monti.

DHL MODENA: Mossa De Rezende 3, Donadio, Petric 13, Rossini (L), Ngapeth 10, Bossi 3, Onwelo 1, Saatkamp 8, Vettori 15. DNP Soli, Sartoretti, Nikic, Sighinolfi. Coach. Lorenzetti.

In a sold-out crowd in Castellanza’s PalaBorsani arena, the clash between bottom and top of the league did not bring any surprise. The visitors sealed it fast to maintain their leadership in the SuperLega. The MVP of this one-way affair was Bruninho who took care of entertaining the crowd with some superb plays.

Danail Milushev (Revivre Milano): “A good game but we never managed to keep up with Modena in any of the three sets. We were there with them until 15 but then we failed to keep playing our best volleyball. Credit to Modena who’s a very strong team. But we all gave everything we had. I really hope we’ll get some important wins out of the next games”.

Elia Bossi (DHL Modena): “I am happy with my performance, my first as a starter. It’s not been an easy game because Milan, in spite of their league position, is a very good team with an excellent setter who is difficult to read. An important victory for us coming from a good team display”.
