The first home game of 2016 ended with a bitter taste and some disappointment for Monza, who was defeated 3-1 by Latina on Tuesday night in a crucial game to get into the top eight. Led by Hirsch (MVP with 21 points), the visitors could also count on some excellent plays from Maruotti and Sket (13 and 12 points).

Andrea Sala (Gi Group Monza): “Unfortunately tonight we did not manage to play our best volleyball, which might be the result of the long break we had and the difficulty we have to maintain the kind of rhythm which had got us a few wins at the start of the season. We’re disappointed we did not manage to handle the fourth set better than that. But the important thing is to bounce back with character and try to find more consistency and determination next Sunday against Ravenna”.

Simon Hirsch (Ninfa Latina): “These are three crucial points that keeps a tough and quality team like Monza at a safe distance from our seventh place. We really wanted to get a result after our two games against Civitanova and I think that was mission accomplished tonight. The block-dig department and the serve worked really well, hopefully 2016 will continue like that”.
