Verona turns its focus on European competition. On Wednesday night, Giani’s men will play host to Arago de Sète in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals. The Italians made it this far by winning all its games and knocking out in that order Fonte do Bastardo Azores, lo Zwolle and Galatasaray. As for Sète, they had the better of Red Star Belgrade in the previous round: they had won the first leg 3-0 but still needed the Golden set in the return leg.
“Sète plays a fast-pace game – said coach Andrea Giani – Their block-dig department is extremely well-organised and they have quality in attack. Our serve and break will be crucial. This is an opportunity to bounce back for us after Sunday’s poor performance against Padova. This should be a great game against an in-form team that is top of its league. We’ve not been at our best of late but we have to find the physical and mental resources to win this game”.
