Verona announced the signing of Sasha Starovic. Born in Gacko, Bosnia-Herzegovina, the outside hitter has been playing in the Italian league for the past five years. The 207cm tall had made his debut at Latina in 2010-11 before moving to San Giustino and then Macerata. He spent the last two years back in Latina, which he helped reach the semi-finals. He finished top scorer of the league in 2011. While he won the SuperCup with Macerata in 2012, he had a lot of glory with his Serbian national team: he got the Bronze medal at the World Championships 2010, two silver medals (2008-2009) and one Bronze (2010) in the World League, a gold medal (2011) and two bronze at the European Championships (2007-2013) and he took part in the Olympic Games 2008 and 2012.
“We have done a good job of working under the radars to sign Starovic – said Andrea Corsini – Starovic has been from day one our main target. He has a lot of experience and it won’t be able to insert him in the squad. We are thrilled to have reached our goal, there was a lot of competition for his signing, especially coming from abroad”.
