The Argentine star, Gonzalo Quiroga, who scored 284 points in 24 games (23 aces, 18 blocks) in his first season in the Superlega, signed a new contract with Padova for the 2015-16 season. Gonzalo is the brother of Rodrigo Daniel Quiroga, who played in Italy from 2006 to 2012 and the nephew of legendary Raul Quiroga, who won it all with Modena, Montichiari and Treviso, and was a star of the Argentinian national team.

“I really enjoyed my first year here – said Gonzalo – I love Padova, we have a great team and people love volleyball here. There are knowledgeable fans, it’s a pleasure to talk volleyball with the supporters. Credit to the great sport tradition there is in the city. As far as I’m concerned, I think this is a great opportunity to play in the top division at only 22 years of age. We know we have the youngest team, but that gives us extra motivation to prove we’re worthy of the SuperLega”.
