Padova went back shopping in the USA and announced the signing of middle blocker Taylor Averill. Born on March 5, 1992 in San Jose, California, Taylor used to play as a spiker as a kid before being moved to the middle blocker position at the university of Hawaii. Last season, he scored a total of 443 points in 31 games, 151 blocks and 30 aces. He is currently part of the US national team juniors.

“I don’t know the Italian league that deeply but it’s a famous league and we know the best athletes in the world play there – said Averill – I feel fortunate to have this opportunity with Padova. I can’t wait to feel the atmosphere of the Italian league. I already know Brian Cook, we basically grew up together. As kids, we used to live very near and we used to play in the same team, the Bay to Bay. It’s fantastic to know I’ll be back with him at Padova. He’s not only a good friend, but also great player, very professional too”.
