In the tournament taking place in Spoleto, the hosts, newly promoted in the B1 division, won both encounters against Civita Castellana and Siena. They proved physically more ready and with an edge in terms of competitive spirit compared to the two Serie A2 teams. This was a tough first test for coach Spanakis as Spoleto counts many players coming from the top division as they aim to win their division this year. Marinelli was the only player already there last season which means coach Spanakis will have a lot of tuning to do. Marinelli and Puliti were the positive notes of the weekend, Brazilian Da Silva worked hard but he’s only been here a few days and is far from being hundred percent. In the end, Civita Castellana surrendered twice 2-1.

“It’s been a top level tournament, with teams composed of top quality players – said Marinelli – We might have felt a bit of pressure on our debut against Spoleto. And it’s true we struggled to find a good rhythm but I think it’s normal for a team that has basically changed it all”.
