Moretti had to give up during the warm up of the game against Ravenna (neck pain) but young outside hitter Cristofaletti responded brilliantly to help the team obtain a satisfying 2-2 draw. He scored 15 points, just one less than top scorer Andrea Ippolito. This was the first real outing for the Under 21 Internationals: Cavuto and Pierotti played 2 sets each and showed some of their qualities. The distribution of the ball from Pier Paolo Partenio was good too, while at times the serve was excellent though with less intensity. Still, 5 aces were scored against 3 for Ravenna. There were ups and downs in reception as Ravenna proved physically powerful. The hosts had their main men in Dutch star Hidde Boswinkel (20 points) and Greek spiker Rafail Koumentakis (18).

“I am happy with my performance – said Cristofaletti – During the warm up coach Graziosi told me I’d get on court from the get-go. Breaking the ice on the road against a SuperLega team is not easy at all, but the whole team supported me and I think I did ok. The important thing is that we hold our own against a team from the level above. This pre-season is given us great motivation, and we feel like we make progress every day”.
