Padova won Wednesday night’s game on the road at the expense of Milan on a 3-1 score. Although they lost all hopes to take part in the Italian Cup, Baldovin’s men registered a valuable win against a Milan team who gave it a good fight but failed to collect their first victory of the season. The spikers Cook and the MVP Berger stood out for Padova as they combined for an impressive 43 points (67% in attack).
Federico Tosi (Revivre Milano): “We knew it was going to be difficult, Padova plays good volleyball. We worked real hard, especially in the first set in which we showed how much we wanted to win it. We deserve to win a game because we work so much in the gym, a victory would give us some much needed confidence”.
Valerio Baldovin (coach Tonazzo Padova): “We did not play too bad in the first set, but we made too many mistakes on the serve. From the second set on we managed to cut down on those mistakes and take control in spite of an excellent Skrimov. This game proved that the level of the league is better than last season. We will have to give everything we have in every game to get some points here and there”.
