DHL MODENA – SIR SAFETY CONAD PERUGIA 3-1 (25-19, 27-25, 23-25, 25-23)

DHL MODENA: Mossa De Rezende 4, Petric 12, Rossini (L), Ngapeth 12, Nikic, Piano 6, Bossi 2, Saatkamp 12, Vettori 17. DNP Donadio, Soli, Casadei, Sartoretti, Sighinolfi. Coach. Lorenzetti.

Perugia was without Fromm for the big match lost 3-1 in Modena in front of a sold-out crowd of 4800 supporters. Modena started off strong and maintained a high rhythm through the first set. The hosts also had the early initiatives in the second but the Block Devils fought back with a terrific Russell. It became tight and spectacular until Lorenzetti’s men eventually snatched it. They also led quickly in the third (7-4) but it did not take long for the visitors to get back and win it. It was then 18 all in the fourth when Modena escaped and sealed the encounter. Mvp: Vettori

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach DHL Modena): “We won a tough game, extremely tough, against a superb team, they played at a very high level. The boys did a great job of staying in the game after losing the third in which Perugia had been better than us. Congratulations to the guys”.

Daniel Castellani (coach Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “We lost against a great team, but I am satisfied with what the boys have done today. They proved they were second to none and can really give a game to anyone”.

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE CIVITANOVA 1-3 (28-30, 25-23, 20-25, 22-25) – EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA: Candellaro 10, Spadavecchia 1, Randazzo 6, Del Vecchio, De Barros Ferreira 9, Barone 6, De Pandis (L), Hierrezuelo 6, Fedrizzi 3, Hernandez Ramos 32. CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE CIVITANOVA: Fei 2, Parodi 2, Juantorena 19, Stankovic 3, Christenson 6, Cester 8, Grebennikov (L), Miljkovic 10, Corvetta, Cebulj 11, Podrascanin 12. DNP Gabriele, Vitelli, Kovar. Coach. Blengini.

Big crowd, superb atmosphere and a great game. The two teams fought hard and gave the fans a spectacular encounter. A battle that lasted four sets and offered a roller coaster of emotions. None of the two sides gave up on any rally, but the visitors made the most of the opportunities they had. Molfetta did more than just give a game to the stars of Civitanova as they were led by an outstanding Hernandez (32 points and MVP).

Adriano Di Pinto (coach Exprivia Molfetta): “I liked the fact we played face to face for long spells of the game. We maintained a high level of concentration. Still, we’ll have a few regrets for the serve mistakes we made in the first set because the serve is normally our main weapon. For the rest, we played a rather good game but we made a couple of silly blunders at the end of sets, things you can’t afford to do against Civitanova”.

Osmany Juantorena (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova): “It is very difficult to play here, this is an extremely valuable victory because Molfetta is a top team at home, a lot of teams will lose some points here. There’s not much to say on our performance. We had a terrific game and we’re all thrilled”.

GI GROUP MONZA – TONAZZO PADOVA 3-0 (28-26, 25-22, 25-21)

GI GROUP MONZA: Sala, Galliani, Mercorio, Jovovic, Rizzo (L), Botto 14, Verhees 7, Beretta 5, Zanatta Buiatti 18, Rousseaux 8. DNP Copelli, Daldello, Brunetti, Gao. Coach. Vacondio.

TONAZZO PADOVA: Cook 14, Leoni, Orduna, Giannotti 8, Balaso (L), Quiroga 4, Volpato 6, Averill 4, Berger 6, Milan 3, Diamantini 2. DNP Bassanello, Lazzaretto. Coach. Baldovin.

Three crucial points in terms of qualification for the Italian Cup for Monza, who disposed of Padova in straight sets. Thanks to this second consecutive home win, the fourth overall, Molfetta moves up to 7th, tied with Latina. MVP: Renan

Nikola Jovovic (Gi Group Monza): “Our main strength tonight was our patience. Padova was a tough team to handle, they’re well-organised and never give up. We started off a bit nervously, this game was so important for the Italian Cup. They were always there, at times they managed to come back from certain deficits. But we played with character, we have been determined and clinical at the end of sets. Now we’ll have two very difficult encounters against Civitanova and Verona, which we’ll try to face with courage and fighting spirit, we know it won’t be easy at all”.

Valerio Baldovin (coach Tonazzo Padova): “We’re very disappointed because we did not play good volleyball. If we want to compete, we need more rhythm and less mistakes, especially in reception. We were nervous and that didn’t help. We have to understand that if the opponent put us under pressure, we should not do anything different than what we do in training”.

CMC ROMAGNA – CALZEDONIA VERONA 0-3 (25-27, 23-25, 27-29)

CMC ROMAGNA: Mengozzi 2, Ricci 2, Cavanna 2, Della Lunga 11, Van Garderen 4, Polo 7, Koumentakis 11, Goi (L), Torres 9, Boswinkel 6, Bari (L), Perini De Aviz. DNP Zappoli. Coach. Kantor.

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 9, Kovacevic 13, Pesaresi (L), Lecat, Spirito, Baranowicz, Starovic 11, Bellei 1, Sander 14, Anzani 11. DNP Gitto, Frigo, Bucko. Coach. Giani.

Romagna gave it a good fight for over an hour and a half but could not clinch a set. Giani’s men deserved the victory, they proved sharper in the clutch time. The hosts tried various alternatives with Boswinkel, Della Lunga, Ricci or Perini, who did well but could not change the course of the encounter. MVP: Simone Anzani (Calzedonia Verona)

Rafail Koumentakis (CMC Romagna): “Shame, we lacked that little something in the end of sets. We kept up with them for most of the time but they have a great team and played extremely well in the block-dig area. It’s difficult to say what was missing for us right now, we will analyse the game on the video to see what went wrong and then we’ll try to get better”.

Andrea Giani (coach Calzedonia Verona): “We did not start off too well but we reacted in time to win the first set. On the contrary, in the second we faded after a good start. But we’re satisfied with the result, winning 3-0 is never easy in this SuperLega, you always have to give everything, you can never take anything for granted. What matters most is the end of sets, and today we did well”.

NINFA LATINA – LPR PIACENZA 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-16)

NINFA LATINA: Mattei 3, Sottile 3, Sket 20, Romiti (L), Tailli 3, Hirsch 16, Yosifov 7, Rossi 2, Maruotti 3. DNP Krumins, Pavlov, Ferenciac. Coach. Placì.

LPR PIACENZA: Coscione 1, Kohut 2, Ter Horst 13, Perrin 16, Patriarca 5, Lampariello (L), Zlatanov 2, Luburic 4, Tencati 1, Tavares Rodrigues 1. DNP Sedlacek, Cottarelli. Coach. Giuliani.

Latina celebrated its 400th game in the top division with a 3-0 victory over Piacenza in just over an hour of play. It was all one-way traffic, the hosts dominated at the net (11 blocks to 2), on the serve (7 aces to 2) and in attack (52% vs 45%). MVP: Alen Sket

Camillo Placì (Coach Ninfa Latina): “It’s an important victory for many reasons. We played some good volleyball. The players who came off the bench did well. We’ve always been focused at the net and we did not make many mistakes. We’re improving day after day but we remain humble. Sottile can bring his experience, just like Dante. Sket played well, he had already had a good game against Trento, but I really liked the attitude of the team, extremely positive”.

Stefano Patriarca (LPR Piacenza): “We really have to find a way out of this situation. What’s strange now is that we train just fine and there is a good atmosphere in the group and with our coach. We have to get on track and very quick. We have to work on our game and maybe on our schemes”.
