Verona won the Venetian derby against Padova on a 3-0 score on Thursday night in the last encounter counting for the seventh round. Thanks to this victory Giani’s men have caught up Trento in the table with 14 points. On the other hand, this defeat leaves Quiroga and co stuck with 3 points. Starovic tallied 17 points, finished top scorer and was named MVP of the game.
Valerio Baldovin (coach Tonazzo Padova): “We do have regrets but we never really had any opportunities to think we could get something more than what we got, maybe one set at the most. We had our moments but we made too many mistakes typical of inexperience players. We have to work on that in order to be able to take points against teams like Verona”.
Sasha Starovic (Calzedonia Verona): “Three important points for us, it’s not been easy to obtain this 3-0 score. They made it hard for us in the first and third set. We might have had a bit of pressure on our shoulders after the loss against Civitanova, this win is very important but we can’t stop now. In three days, we’ll be back in action against Milan, we have to stay focused and take all three points in that game too”.
