CMC Romagna – Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 19 (12-7 Civitanova)

Waldo Kantor (coach CMC Romagna): “We had a good pre-season. The group is motivated and we’ve been training well, especially in the last period with our full squad. I am confident but also convinced that this first few rounds will not tell the whole truth. I think we will see the real value of each team in a while when the players will have had more time to gel, because so far they have not been together enough for it to happen. The key to try to get a result against Civitanova will be to play at our best, make the least mistakes possible and make the most of every opportunity our opponents will give us, and maybe hope they won’t be hundred percent, otherwise there’s not much we can do”.

Marko Podrascanin (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova): “A new season begins with a lot of new players in different positions. Many of us have arrived just 2-3 days ago after our summer with our national teams, so our first goal will be to try to give it our best shot even if we’ve had only very few training sessions all together. CMC Romagna is an excellent squad, we begin with a tough one but we want to win it and start this new adventure on a positive note”.

Tonazzo Padova – Ninfa Latina

PAST E

NCOUNTERS: 18 (10-8 Latina)

Valerio Baldovin (coach Tonazzo Padova): “We’ll be up against a very strong opponent. They have a very competitive roster with top players in every position. We still have to get synchronised on court and find consistency. The injuries during the pre-season have not helped, but we’ll be ready for the fight. We have a lot of work on, but the group has fighting spirit and is dedicated to the job at hands”.

Gabriele Maruotti (Ninfa Latina): “I’ll face this new challenge as captain. This is a new role for me and I am proud I have been picked. We’ve had our full squad for only a few days. One training sessions after another we’re discovering more about our strengths. This trip to Padova will be our first test”.

Sir Safety Conad Perugia – Calzedonia Verona

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 11 (9-2 Perugia)

Daniel Castellani (Coach Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “Verona is an extremely complicated opponent to face. Nothing new there, they have a balanced roster, they play fast, and they have quality spikers who do well in dig too. Their serve will be extremely dangerous, they have that capacity to vary a lot and that’s an important weapon to have. We might have similar characteristics, we’ll see that on court, because at the start of the season we have limited information. The flow of the game might not be splendid yet but I expect the boys to play with energy and fighting spirit. We must be aggressive but at the same time be patient. It’s obvious that we all want to start with a positive result at home”.

Andrea Giani (Coach Calzedonia Verona): “This is a debut game for two teams that have been able to train with their full squad only in the last few days. The schemes are not fluid yet, which is why the individual talent will count more than usual. The game against Perugia is a special one for us, we have met so many times in recent years. We are two clubs that have gone higher and higher year after year, and the quality of play has increased too”.

LPR Piacenza – Revivre Milano

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 2 (Piacenza won both)

Stefano Patriarca (LPR Piacenza): “I’d say we’re in good shape for this opening round. We have trained well for a month and a half and gone crescendo in the friendly games, both physically and in terms of level of play. Milan has changed radically compared to last season. The club and roster is a different one. They brought in top players like Sottile and Milushev. And I think that with a coach like Monti, they have found their identity. This will be a tough team to play, like all the ones we’ll face in the SuperLega”.

Luca Monti (Coach Revivre Milano): “To be honest this is not an easy debut game. We should not set ourselves any limits, we just have to go out there and play to the best of our abilities. Then we’ll see what Piacenza can do, it’s up to us to try to take advantage of the opportunities they will give us to get a result. We will try our very best”.

DHL Modena – Exprivia Molfetta

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 4 (3-1 Modena)

Andrea Sartoretti (GM DHL Modena): “Definitely a tough game for us on Tuesday. We’ll be coming off the Super Cup against Trento, so we’ll have very limited time to prepare this game. But we’ll give 100%, playing every three days will occur very often this season. Whoever signs for Modena has already a certain competitive spirit, but we also expect a lot of support from our amazing fans who will be our seventh man on court as usual”.

Rocco Barone (Exprivia Molfetta): “We’ve all been working incessantly since August 20 here in Molfetta. And I think this is a little advantage on other teams. We’re ready to go for this new season and starting off against a top team like Modena makes it even more exciting. Then we’ll see on court what we’re capable of. I’m back in the south following my experience in Vibo, without forgetting the years in Perugia. I hope this season will personally bring me a lot of satisfaction too”.

Gi Group Monza – Diatec Trentino

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 2 (Trento won both)

Claudio Bonati (Sport Director Gi Group Monza): “It would seem to be an impossible game for us, but we know that in sport there can always be some surprises. We know how strong is Trentino, athletically and mentally ready given that they’ll play the Super Cup against Modena. But we’ll be home with our fans and we hope to see them in numbers to support us for this first one. I’ve seen a good flow to our game in the friendlies against Lugano and Padova. It was like the boys had been playing together for a lot more time than what we really had at our disposal. Hopefully, this spirit and energy, combined with a good level of volleyball, can be the key to make it hard for the Italian champions”.

Massimo Colaci (Diatec Trentino): “Beginning the season on the road is never easy, you need great character to obtain a victory. Besides, we’ll play in Monza, a team that got stronger compared to last season and just four days after the Super Cup in Modena. There are therefore many reasons to watch out for this difficult encounter”.
