Treia comes out of the competition at the quarter-final stage. Latina is the one to go in the semi-final as Giuliani’s men were defeated for the second time on home soil. Led by an outstanding Starovic (MVP, 18 points, 5 blocks), Latina stunned the Italian champs again on the road and will be the one to take on Modena in the next round. For Treia this is the end of a season that had moments of joy but also a lot of pain like the cup semi-final defeat against Modena, the Champions League knock out against the Pols of Belchtow in the Playoffs 12 and now that premature exit of the playoffs.

Perugia had the better of Verona 2-1 in the series and are back in the semi-finals, in which it will take on Trentino from Saturday.
The first set was tight until the first quarter when Perugia stepped up a gear. There was a perfect flow to their game led by the MVP Andrea Giovi, impressive in dig. Verona fought back early in the second, and took control (12-8). Atanasijevic tried to get Perugia back in it at the end of the set with his run of serves but Verona hold them off to tie it at 1-1.
The intensity was something special in the third set. Both sides played at a very high level. Many breaks and counters led to an exciting tight ending which Perugia clinched on a Gasparini mistake. Once again Verona reacted (9-7), but then the trio De Cecco-fromm-Atanasijevic took charge to lead Perugia towards celebration.

Simone Anzani (Calzedonia Verona): “We needed a couple more digs in the third set and we lacked a bit of character in the fourth. It had started very similarly as game 1, but at the end we failed to maintain our level of play and impose our game”.
