Trento bounced back from the CEV Cup final disappointment (beaten in the golden set by Moscow) with a 3-0 victory over Molfetta in the playoffs quarter-finals game 1. The hosts found their rhythm from the get-go, doing an excellent job in the block-dig area. Nemec (16 points, 4 aces) was just unstoppable as he led Trento to a cruising 2-0 lead before Molfetta showed some pride. They led 12-8 in the third before Stoytchev’s men took control through some good work from Nemec again and Giannelli who had just come on. Molfetta made too many mistakes, 13 at the net and 12 on the serve.

Martin Nemec (Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino): “We really wanted to put the CEV Cup loss behind us and get off to a good start in the playoffs. That went rather well, we were focused from the start and imposed our game. It will be much more difficult in Molfetta, but let’s enjoy the victory for now. It was important to win the first one”.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (Exprivia Neldiritto Molfetta): “We really struggled to play for a set and a half. Then it got better but that was not enough. Trento has a lot more experience than us, and they proved it in the third set by recovering at the right time before escaping. If we want to get back in this series, we’ll need to play at a whole different level at home on Sunday”.
