Modena got off to a good start in its playoffs campaign by defeating Ravenna 3-1. MVP: Luca Vettori
Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Parmareggio Modena): “I think that’s an important victory, extremely important, and if you’d ask me to give my team a grade, I’d say 8. Ravenna had a good game, they made it hard for us, especially in the first set. They have top quality players who can handle the pressure, but today we proved we could also come back from behind, fighting as a unit, and playing with great composure. Now we’ll go on the road stronger thanks to this advantage”.
Beppe Cormio (General Manager CMC Ravenna): “We lost our focus in certain moments of the game, especially at the end of the third set, when a few referee decisions went against us. And then we totally lost our way in the fourth. But I think in the first three sets the team proved once again it could give a game to anyone, even Modena”.

Latina obtained a superb road win against Treia, who will have to win game 2 at all cost in order not to lose its title a lot more prematurely than expected. Starovic scored 19 points at 52% in attack (1 ace, 1 block) and was named MVP.
Alberto Giuliani (coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Treia): “It’s hard to explain after the good first set how we all lost it in attack. I think only Fei had decent percentages. The substitutions made no difference, we were apparently apathetic, we were not in the game, our attitude was poor. I don’t know why, things had been said clearly during the week, we knew these were the games with no return, tonight was an opportunity to give everything. But there’s a good thing about the playoffs, that there is a new opportunity next Sunday. But we’ll surely need a different level of play and spirit”.
Sasa Starovic (Top Volley Latina): “We played a great game, we obtained this result thanks to the hard work carried out day in day out in the gym. This tie is clearly not over, but now we’ll have a great opportunity to seal the series in game 2 in front of our fans and we’ll try to make the most of it. The series is still open, and as a whole, I think those playoffs will be very tight”.
