TOP VOLLEY LATINA – PARMAREGGIO MODENA 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 18-25, 25-21)

TOP VOLLEY LATINA: Manià (L), Rauwerdink, Sottile 1, Skrimov 8, Pellegrino, Van De Voorde 12, Starovic 17, Semenzato 12, Urnaut 15. DNP Ferenciac, Tailli, Davis, Rossi. Coach. Blengini.

In a packed PalaBianchini arena, Latina thrashed the league leaders of Modena. A brilliant performance with Italy’s head coach, Mauro Berruto, watching on. This win will bring a big dose of confidence ahead of the clash with Treia and the playoffs for Blengini’s men.

MVP: Daniele Sottile

Daniele Sottile (Top Volley Latina): “A great and important game, not so much for the points but to prove ourselves and to our opponents that we have a big potential. We did a great job from start to finish”.

Salvatore Rossini (Parmareggio Modena): “Latina had a great game today. We knew it was going to be a tough road match, but they just did not let us develop our game. If Latina plays like that in the playoffs, it will be tough for any team to win on their home court”.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE TREIA 0-3 (25-27, 21-25, 22-25)

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Buti 7, Fromm 9, Paolucci 2, De Cecco 1, Giovi (L), Barone 2, Tzioumakas, Beretta 1, Vujevic 8, Atanasijevic 17, Sunder. DNP Fanuli, Maruotti. Coach. Grbic.

There was a sold-out in Perugia for this remake of last year’s league final, which the Italian champions won in straight sets. MVP: Stankovic

Nikola Grbic (coach Sir Safety Perugia): “Unfortunately, the defeat against Belchatow has greatly influenced the mood in the team. You could see the day after they were emotionally down. Shame we let that first set go like that when we were 24-20 ahead. If we had won that one, things might have gone differently. Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be, and now we just have to recover and find the strength to face the coming games”.

Dragan Stankovic (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Treia): “We did not play exceptionally but we did ok. We found it hard at the start without our starting setter but we have been consistent. We did not miss many serves while their Champions League knock out has surely influenced Perugia, who was not at its best”.

ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO – ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-19) – ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 13, Birarelli 6, Zygadlo 4, Nemec 11, Lanza 14, Mazzone, Colaci (L), Fedrizzi 1, Burgsthaler 3. DNP Nelli, Galassi, Thei, Giannelli. Coach. Stoytchev.

ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO: Lensi (L), Corvetta, Dolfo, Kaszap 1, Tosi (L), Della Lunga 12, Aganits 3, Maric 13, Randazzo 6, Mazzone 5. DNP Franceschini, Teppan, Daldello, Baroti. Coach. Polidori.

Sweet return to league action for Trento after two weeks dedicated to the CEV Cup. Stoytchev’s men overcame the challenge of Città di Castello, last from bottom, thanks to a solid and convincing display. Thanks to this win, Trento remains unbeaten at home and stays firmly into second place. And this 16th consecutive home win came without much problem in just over an hour of play. All the spikers finished in double figures and with good percentages: Kaziyski (53%), Nemece (60%) and the MVP Lanza (62%).

Filippo Lanza (ENERGY T.I. Diatec Trentino): “We played at our usual standard and obtained the three points without too much trouble. Thanks to this result we can go to Modena with a chance to catch them up at the top of the table. This will be a great game”.

Dore Della Lunga (Altotevere Città di Castello Sansepolcro): “Trento has a top quality organization: the serve is only one of the fundamentals that can hurt you, they have many more weapons like the blocking, they put a lot of pressure on us and often forced us to make mistakes in attack to avoid their blocks. We knew it was going to be tough on this court but to be honest we could have done better”.

CMC RAVENNA – CALZEDONIA VERONA 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-15)

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 7, Ricci 4, Cavanna 1, Gabriele, Koumentakis 10, Goi (L), Zanatta Buiatti 17, Bari (L), Mc Kibbin, Cebulj 16. DNP Zappoli, Jeliazkov, Cester. Coach. Kantor.

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 5, Coscione 2, Pesaresi (L), Gitto, Blasi, Gasparini 5, Deroo 7, White 4, Bellei 1, Sander 9, Anzani 6. DNP Centomo, Borgogno. Coach. Giani.

Ravenna might have played its best game in the last three years. They swept the fourth power of the league, taking revenge on the severe defeat conceded in the first meeting. Ravenna is almost certain to be part of the playoffs and will play for seventh place next week in Molfetta. With Koumentakis back, Renan was back to his best, while Cebulj just couldn’t miss anything. MVP: Maximiliano Cavanna

Waldo Kantor (coach CMC Ravenna): “This superb victory proves Ravenna can give a game to anyone. Our concentration was the key of everything, now we have to keep playing like this in the coming crucial games we’ll have”.

Andrea Giani (coach Calzedonia Verona): “We wanted to stay close and give it a fight even if we knew Ravenna was in great shape. We just did not manage to trouble them, we never played as a united and solid group”.

REVIVRE MILANO – VERO VOLLEY MONZA 2-3 (20-25, 25-18, 25-19, 34-36, 11-15) – REVIVRE MILANO: Bencz 24, Kauliakamoa Jr, Temponi Araujo, Patriarca 7, Rizzo (L), Mattera 1, De Togni 1, Dos Santos 19, Veres 18, Preti, Valsecchi 10. DNP Bermudez, Cerbo. Coach. Maranesi.

VERO VOLLEY MONZA: Procopio (L), Gotsev 10, Botin 7, Tiberti 2, Galliani 8, Padura Diaz 29, De Pandis (L), Jovovic, Vigil Gonzalez 8, Botto 12, Wang 3, Bonetti 5. DNP Bonola. Coach. Vacondio.

A derby that went to the wire. Beaten in the first one, Monza took revenge by coming back from 2-1 down to snatch it at the tie-break. The turning point was in the fourth set when Milan failed to seal the encounter despite a 2-1 and 24-20 lead. In the end, after 44 minutes of play, Monza snatched the set 36-34 and took the momentum into the fifth.

MVP: Padura Diaz

Marco Maranesi (coach Revivre Milano): “We went extremely close to the victory, but we’ve lost so many of those hard-fought sets. And that’s normal that a team that rarely wins starts to play with fear when it comes to the key moments. We should have contained Padura Diaz better, he attacked us from all angles. As for the rest, everybody saw the win was for us to take”.

Oreste Vacondio (coach Vero Volley Monza): “Milan found some unusual schemes, and that caused problems to Botto, who is usually our best receiver. Botto and Galliani have not been at their best of late. So we had to think of who could take Jacopo (Botto)’s place and improve that reception. In came Bonetti and Botin and we managed to win that marathon in the fourth and seal it in the tie-break”.
