That was a special game for both squad as the coach of the Italian national team, Mauro Berruto, was in the stands. A match in which the two teams alternatively played their best volley, which led inevitably to a tie-break that went Molfetta’s way.
Piacenza sprinted off the starting blocks in the fifth and took a four-point lead on an Alletti ace (4-8), but Molfetta regained control of matters from there. Noda Bianco then Candellaro blocked Poey at the net and soon went in front. In the end, a block from Bossi on Zlatanov and a ferocious cross court spike from Torres sealed it for Molfetta.
Thanks to this win, Molfetta goes seven points clear of Piacenza in the table and makes another big step towards the playoffs.

Aimone Alletti (Copra Piacenza): “It’s been a strange game today. We struggled to deal with their serves. We’re disappointed with this defeat but we all know the tie-break is a lottery. As long as we’ll mathematically be in it, we’ll believe in the playoffs”.
