The big match of round 21 goes to Treia. In a sold-out PalaCivitanova arena (4.000), the hosts had the better of Trento at the tie-break, which gets them back in the race for the top spot. They trimmed the deficit to 5 points with Trento, who will be rested next week. MVP: Alessandro Fei: he scored 21 points (57% in attack).

Alberto Giuliani (coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Treia): “We’re back, and we had some spells of brilliant volleyball. Consistency is another matter, I think we’ll have to work extremely hard in the gym to find it, with the contribution of everyone. The fact we had everybody was key tonight, we had not seen Fei at this level for quite some time. This excellent result for the league table gives me hopes for the future considering we have margin for improvement. We have been nervous at the start of the game, we gave points away on our serve, kept being blocked, and that let Trento in the game. I really like what the team did in dig, and how aggressive they’ve been on the counter. Let’s not forget we had important alternatives tonight, and we have to build from this to improve at 360° and reach the level of Modena and Trento. And playing constantly in front of 4.000 fans is a big plus, an arena we had been dreaming of for a long time. Now we have to enjoy this wonderful atmosphere”.

Radostin Stoytchev (coach Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino): “We lost a game we could also have won. Congratulations to Treia but we’re really disappointed not to have taken advantage of certain opportunities in the tie-break. It’s early to say if the point we got might be key. So many situations can still unfold one way or another”.

TOP VOLLEY LATINA – REVIVRE MILANO 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-19)

TOP VOLLEY LATINA: Manià (L), Rauwerdink 1, Sottile 2, Ferenciac, Skrimov 5, Tailli (L), Van De Voorde 11, Starovic 14, Semenzato 10, Urnaut 15. DNP Pellegrino, Davis, Rossi. Coach. Blengini.

REVIVRE MILANO: Bencz 8, Kauliakamoa Jr, Temponi Araujo, Patriarca 1, Rizzo (L), Mattera 1, De Togni 2, Dos Santos 6, Veres 8, Preti 6, Valsecchi 3. DNP Bermudez, Cerbo. Coach. Maranesi.

Latina needed just over an hour to get rid of Milan and take three points. It was all one-way traffic, Latina had 10 aces and 9 blocks. MVP: Andrea Semenzato

Gianlorenzo Blengini (coach Top Volley Latina): “I insist on saying we should never lower our guards. We won the second set thanks to our serve but we played with the determination to seal it quick. We’re mathematically in the playoffs, but we still have games to study and take into consideration. I think the team has a lot of resources, coming as well from the ones coming off the bench”.

Marco Maranesi (coach Revivre Milano): “Latina is a solid team that does not make many mistakes. We can’t just play face to face for brief spells, we make too many errors. Our goal is not to finish last in the table”.

PARMAREGGIO MODENA – CMC RAVENNA 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-19)

PARMAREGGIO MODENA: Mossa De Rezende 6, Sala, Petric 14, Boninfante, Casadei 2, Rossini (L), Ngapeth 3, Piano 8, Verhees 7, Ishikawa 1, Kovacevic 20, Vettori 13. DNP Donadio. Coach. Lorenzetti.

Thanks to a 3-1 victory in a tight game against Ravenna, Modena moved up to the top of the table and with a game in hand on Trento. MVP: Salvatore Rossini.

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Parmareggio Modena): “I think today’s game was important, extremely important. We got back on our feet after a very poor first set. They seemed to be twice as quick as us. But we did not put our heads down, we got back in it and kept getting better on route to victory”.

Waldo Kantor (coach CMC Ravenna): “We played an excellent game but go home with a defeat against a team that stands at a level above. Congratulations to my boys because they really played well, if we had not played against such a stellar team today, we’d have gone home with at least two points. We’ll just look ahead with confidence”

VERO VOLLEY MONZA – ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO 3-1 (21-25, 25-13, 25-21, 25-14) – VERO VOLLEY MONZA: Procopio (L), Elia 9, Gotsev 17, Tiberti, Galliani 12, Padura Diaz 19, Taramelli (L), Jovovic, Botto 17, Wang, Bonetti. DNP Vigil Gonzalez, Botin. Coach. Vacondio.

ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO: Franceschini, Teppan, Corvetta, Dolfo, Kaszap, Tosi (L), Della Lunga 11, Aganits 9, Maric 11, Randazzo 11, Mazzone 10. DNP Lensi, Daldello. Coach. Polidori.

Monza is delighted with this 3-1 win over Castello as it had not won home since January 3 against Latina. Besides, Ravenna lost and that means Monza keeps its dream of a playoff participation alive. That was also the celebration of young Taramelli’s debut. The youngster born in 1999 was even key at the end of the second set when Monza was trailing 1-0. MVP: Jacopo Botto.

Oreste Vacondio (coach Vero Volley Monza): “We started off a bit tense, we knew we couldn’t get it wrong. The situation has changed for us, we’re far away from the bottom team and we play with a different spirit. I sent Taramelli on because we had a good advantage, but also because I know him very well, he was part of the regional selection. We had won the Region’s trophy with him. He has a lot of quality, I’m sure he has a bright future ahead of him”.

Fausto Polidori (coach Altotevere Città di Castello): “The first set could have been the basis on which to build a good game but it wasn’t to be. We struggled in reception and consequently on the counter. We did not manage to react and Monza deservedly won it. What worries me the most is that we can’t seem to play good volleyball of late. We could play better, the result would naturally come, but instead we make a lot of mistakes, we’re the ones who make it hard for ourselves, and this is frustrating”.

TONAZZO PADOVA – CALZEDONIA VERONA 1-3 (25-23, 15-25, 23-25, 21-25)

TONAZZO PADOVA: Mattei 4, Orduna 5, Giannotti 6, Balaso (L), Gozzo, Rosso 11, Volpato 3, Garghella, Aguillard 7, Milan 7, Quiroga 9. DNP Vianello, Beccaro. Coach. Baldovin.

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 10, Coscione 2, Pesaresi (L), Gasparini 22, Deroo 15, White 1, Sander 16, Anzani 13. DNP Gitto, Blasi, Centomo, Bellei, Borgogno. Coach. Giani.

Great atmosphere before the game as Andrea Garghella celebrated his 400th appearance with Padova and Manuel Coscione his 400th in the Serie A. Then, the hosts however had to surrender to Verona. MVP: Mitja Gasparini (Calzedonia Verona).

Valerio Baldovin (coach Tonazzo Padova): “We fought as hard as ever, but unfortunately we struggled in reception and lacked composure. Shame because we could easily have taken a point. It’s true they dominated at the net, but I think the difference was their serve, which often forced us to play away from the net”.

Manuel Coscione (Calzedonia Verona): “We did not play well tonight, we made mistakes we don’t usually make. But what mattered was to come out with the points. They made mistakes of their own, that helped us to believe and we took advantage in the key moments of the game”.
