Just like in their first meeting, a tie-break was needed to separate the two sides, but this time it went to Padova. This is the second consecutive win for Baldovin’s men who had swept Città di Castello last week. On the other hand, Milan has not won since December 21. The main man for Padova was Stefano Giannotti, who scored 29 points and was named MVP. The end of the fourth set was a turning point as Milan wasted three match balls.
Marco Maranesi (coach Revivre Milano): “Unfortunately, we have our limits, our serve had ups and downs, and we got very little at the net. It’s been a hard-fought game like the first one, shame it finished like that. I really believed we could do it in the fourth”.
Stefano Giannotti (Tonazzo Padova): “Our main strength was our heart tonight. Milan was in it till the end, but we did a great job to deal with the pressure. We struggled on the serve, but we worked our socks off in dig and we were the better side in the blocking department. We’re not disappointed with a point loss, on the contrary we’re happy with the two points won”.
