ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO – TOP VOLLEY LATINA 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 19-25, 25-20) – ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 19, Nelli 1, Birarelli 6, Zygadlo, Nemec 16, Giannelli, Lanza 14, Solé 13, Colaci (L), Fedrizzi. DNP Thei, Mazzone, Burgsthaler. Coach. Stoytchev.

TOP VOLLEY LATINA: Manià (L), Rauwerdink 1, Sottile 2, Skrimov 13, Pellegrino, Tailli (L), Van De Voorde 4, Davis 1, Rossi, Starovic 20, Semenzato 8, Urnaut 16. DNP Ferenciac. Coach. Blengini.

Latina was the last team to beat Trento on its home floor in the playoffs for fifth place return leg last year but it would not be able to repeat their feat. The league leaders remain unbeaten home this season thanks to a 3-1 victory, which will allow Stoytchev’s men to face next week’s big game against Treia with a 6-point margin and a lot of confidence.  Indeed, the hosts had to play at their best to overcome a motivated Latina team that came to play. In the first two sets, the visitors were trapped in Stoytchev’s tactical plan made of digs and blocks, but then they got back in the game by taking the third set. And that is when MVP Kazyiski and co showed why they are on top of the rest.

Radostin Stoytchev (Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino): “An important performance and win for many reasons. I am happy with the three points and even more with our level of play. We got off to a brilliant start with some terrific blocking, digs and serves and deserved our 2-0 lead. Then, we found it harder but pushed by our amazing fans, we managed to find our rhythm again. In the fourth set, Kaziyski was extremely sharp on the serve, both at the start and at the end of the set, and that made the difference”.

Andrea Semenzato (Top Volley Latina): “The dig was key in this game. In the first two sets, we did not do well in that department which made life easy for Trento. We improved in the third and got back in it. Everything was tight in the fourth but unfortunately a champion like Kazyiski came up big and wrapped up the points for them”.

ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE TREIA 0-3 (25-27, 21-25, 27-29) – ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO: Franceschini, Corvetta 3, Kaszap, Tosi (L), Della Lunga 10, Aganits 2, Maric 12, Randazzo 17, Mazzone 6. DNP Teppan, Lensi, Dolfo, Daldello. Coach. Polidori.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE TREIA: Fei, Henno (L), Parodi 7, Paparoni (L), Stankovic 10, Kovar 1, Sabbi 12, Monopoli, Shumov, Kurek 16, Baranowicz 1, Podrascanin 7. DNP Bonacic. Coach. Giuliani.

Treia came back from Sansepolcro with a straight set victory which does not reflect how well the home team played compared to recent outings. MVP: Randazzo (Altotevere Città di Castello – Sansepolcro)

Dore Della Lunga (Altotevere Città di Castello-Sansepolcro): “We have to see the positive side of things. There is a big difference between the two teams but today we did great things in many areas of the game and that’s a good sign for the coming games. Shame we could not make it last longer, we might have been able to take advantage from a dip from them given that they had just come back from Poland for their Champions League game”.

Giulio Sabbi (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Treia): “That was a tough game, we expected it because they had gotten much better in recent games. We did a good job of sealing it fast given that we had that long trip to Poland. The key was that we handled the big points better than them, because as for the rest there was a lot of mistakes from both teams”.

EXPRIVIA NELDIRITTO MOLFETTA – MODENA VOLLEY 1-3 (25-20, 21-25, 19-25, 18-25) – EXPRIVIA NELDIRITTO MOLFETTA: Candellaro 8, Noda Blanco 3, Sket 14, Del Vecchio 2, Romiti (L), Bossi 2, Hierrezuelo 8, Despaigne Jurquin 5, Torres 14, Piscopo 3. DNP Spirito, Blagojevic, Porcelli. Coach. Di Pinto.

MODENA VOLLEY: Mossa De Rezende 5, Donadio (L), Boninfante, Casadei, Rossini (L), Ngapeth 9, Piano 10, Verhees 10, Ishikawa, Kovacevic 17, Vettori 13. DNP Sala, Petric. Coach. Lorenzetti.

The dream was to make it a special treble following the scalp of Treia and Trento, but Molfetta had to surrender to an effective Modena team, who came back from a set down to take all three points. Thanks to this win, Modena stays second, while Molfetta remains in seventh position as Ravenna lost and Piacenza was rested. Mvp: Kovacevic

Salvatore Rossini (Modena Volley): “We knew that was going to be a tricky road game, we saw how Trento and Treia got trapped. Molfetta played brightly, we gave 110% to contain their servers. Indeed, they got their only two aces in the first set. We played some excellent dig and managed to win in a difficult gym”.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (coach Expriva Neldiritto Molfetta): “We did well to be aggressive with our serve in the first set. But then they limited their mistakes, thanks to some tactical serves they changed the game and gained confidence. We will try to make it into the playoffs, but we know we need to keep our feet on the ground. We will use our break to prepare carefully the game against Verona”.

CMC RAVENNA – SIR SAFETY PERUGIA 1-3 (25-21, 17-25, 18-25, 29-31)

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 11, Ricci 4, Cavanna, Gabriele, Jeliazkov 2, Koumentakis 13, Goi (L), Zanatta Buiatti 18, Bari (L), Mc Kibbin, Cebulj 12. DNP Zappoli, Cester. Coach. Kantor.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Buti 8, Fromm 24, Paolucci, De Cecco 1, Giovi (L), Barone, Tzioumakas, Beretta 7, Vujevic 8, Atanasijevic 28, Sunder. DNP Maruotti. Coach. Grbic.

The week in which they celebrated qualification into the Champions League playoffs 6 ended nicely for the Perugia players, who came back from Verona with a three-point win. Still, in spite of being without Zappoli and Cester, Ravenna was offering a much better outing than in recent games. The young Ricci got off to a bright start though he faded in the long run, unlike Koumentakis and Mengozzi. But the main man was yet again Atanasijevic, named MVP as he took over from the halfway point of the second set.

Waldo Kantor (coach CMC Ravenna): “I am disappointed because we could have taken a point, but against those teams when you make mistakes you get punished. At times we hit the serve too strong and we made a lot of mistakes in attack. I think Koumentakis had a great game, his influence goes beyond the stats, he has been extremely clever”.

Nikola Grbic (coach Sir Safety Perugia): “Once we put our foot on the pedal, we had the game in hand. I saw a great reaction in the fourth set from my players, whose only critics can come from a poor start. I think a dip could be expected after our Champions League qualification but if we had gone to the fifth set, I still think we could have won it there”.
