Verona registered yet another victory in its PalaOlimpia arena, which is becoming a real fortress. Monza tried everything possible to make it hard for Giani’s men and push it to a tie-break but in vain. Sam Deroo had 74% in attack for a total of 19 points. Thanks to this win, Verona maintains its fourth place in the league table.
Nicola Pesaresi (Calzedonia Verona): “A difficult win. We are glad we took three points, but it’s been incredibly hard. That has to be a lesson, we always say there are no easy games and this one is a clear demonstration. Monza had a good game. Our game was flowing better after the first set and we had some important runs on the serve”.
Svetoslav Gotsev (Vero Volley Monza): “That was a special game for me. Verona was my first team outside Bulgaria, there was a bit of emotion at the start of the game. We believed in it till the end, we played an excellent first set but then Verona stepped up and won it”.
