In the second semi-final of the Serie A2 cup final four in Chieti, Potenza Picena had the better of Corigliano in what has been a tight encounter. Potenza proved more effective in the clutch time thanks to the boldness of their youngsters and the experience of their outside hitter Moretti, who finished top scorer with 22 points and 56% in attack (2 blocks too). Potenza will therefore fight it out with Vibo for the trophy tomorrow.
Marzo Izzo (Caffè Aiello Corigliano): “We’ve had a tough time of late and you can see that in the important moments of the game, when we’d need that dig and block which doesn’t come. I am extremely disappointed with the result, because we had the game in hand for a set and a half. But in the third, we started to make a lot of mistakes on the serve and we paid the price”.
Felipe Airton Banderò (Caffè Aiello Corigliano): “We did not play at our best and we did not manage to put in the play what we usually do in practice. Mistakes got us out of it. I congratulate Potenza Picena for this victory”.
Simmaco Tartaglione (B-Chem Potenza Picena): “I am thrilled with this win. That was a great show, and a win I particularly enjoy given that it was against my former team. I’m happy to be in the final, but I feel sorry for Ortona who was surprisingly knocked out. Thanks to the organization of Ortona, this competition is a real success”.
Federico Moretti (B-Chem Potenza Picena): “That was an exceptional breakthrough. We have a young group and being in the final is already a great satisfaction. Tomorrow, we’ll try our best, we have nothing to lose”.
