Positive end to the League Round for Piacenza with a tough road win over the group leaders of Constanta, who played with fighting spirit despite the qualification already acquired the previous week. Piacenza had the contribution of 11 of its 12 players as Meoni was the only one not to come on. Poey finished top scorer with 24 points (4 aces, 2 blocks). Zlatanov added 15 and Alletti had 11 (7 blocks).
Andrea Radici (Coach Copra Piacenza): “What prevails at the end of this game is the great satisfaction to have reached our goal. The match was extremely tight and hard-fought until the last rally. I am very happy for the club and the team. Every single player helped the cause, I can only be proud of that”.
HALKBANK ANKARA – SIR SAFETY PERUGIA 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-19, 25-18)
HALKBANK ANKARA: Kiyak 2, Juantorena Portuondo 21, Çam, Sokolov 17, Esko, Kubiak 14, Sahin (L), Tekeli 6, Mozdzonek 8. DNP Ayvazoglu, Dogan, Batur. Coach. Bernardi.

A defeat without any consequences for Perugia who had already secured first place with a game to spare. Coach Grbic rested some of his players like Fromm, Atanasijevic, De Cecco and Giovi (Buti and Vujevic did not make the trip) as Perugia was playing tis fourth game in 9 days. Considering how little minutes of experience had the line-up, Perugia had a pretty decent performance against the Champions League runner-up last year.
CUCINE LUBE TREIA – FENERBAHCE SK. ISTANBUL 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-21)
CUCINE LUBE TREIA: Henno (L), Parodi 7, Stankovic 10, Sabbi 8, Bonacic, Kurek 16, Baranowicz 4, Podrascanin 6. DNP Fei, Paparoni, Monopoli, Shumov. Coach. Giuliani.
FENERBAHCE SK. ISTANBUL: Hazirol (L), Cevikel, Kayhan 7, Wijsmans 9, BÖhme 2, Firincioglu 4, Toy 6, Ünver 7. DNP GÜnes, GÖk, Miljkovic. Coach. Castellani.
The perfect night for Treia. A splendid 4.350 crowd, a packed PalaCivitanova arena for the first ever game in the new Treia home. And a perfect victory over the Turkish side of Fenerbahce that sends the Italian into the next stage of the competition thanks as well to Innsbruck’s win over the Belgium team of Antwerp. Treia was outstanding at the net, they tallied 13 blocks and they were fine too on the serve (5 aces). Fenerbahce were without four important players.
Alberto Giuliani (Coach Cucine Lube Treia): “We did a good job to seal 3-0 a game we had to win and which got us our pass to the next phase. The feeling was beautiful tonight to play in this splendid arena, and the fans were just amazing. We’ve been struggling to have a full squad, but the boys responded brilliantly, first with the win in Paris, then fighting in Padova, and finally tonight, with Parodi just back from the flu. You could see the focus and the will to win, important factors for a team that wants to reach certain goals”.
