ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO – SIR SAFETY PERUGIA 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19) – ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 16, Nelli, Birarelli 2, Zygadlo 1, Nemec 18, Giannelli 3, Lanza 17, Solé 11, Colaci (L), Fedrizzi, Burgsthaler. DNP Thei, Mazzone. Coach. Stoytchev.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Buti 7, Fromm 14, Paolucci, De Cecco 2, Giovi (L), Barone 4, Tzioumakas 1, Beretta 3, Vujevic 4, Atanasijevic 15, Sunder 1, Maruotti 3. DNP Cricco, Fanuli. Coach. Grbic.

Just eight days after the Italian cup semi-finals in Bologna, Trentino proved it was stronger than Perugia once again. The two teams have met three times this season, and Trento has always come away with the victory. Thanks to this win, Stoytchev’s men remain unbeaten this season at home. However, once again they had to come back from behind to conquer this ninth consecutive victory. Perugia won the first set and was ahead in the second 7-5 when coach Stoytchev’s surprising move put Perugia off their game. Indeed, he sent on 18-year-old setter Giannelli on for Zygadlo and left him on till the end. That’s how the percentages of the attack went up and Trento celebrated another victory. MVP: Giannelli (Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino)

Simone Giannelli (Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino): “I am thrilled with this MVP award and even more with the victory. Now we have to keep working hard and keep our feet on the ground. I tried to stay composed and get my teammates in rhythm because it’s only as a team that we could win such a tough game, which had become even more difficult after the first set”.

Simone Buti (Sir Safety Perugia): “We’re obviously disappointed with the result but also with our performance, we definitely could have done better. After the first set, Trento got back on track and we lost our way. If Giannelli changed the game? I think the way we played, we’d have struggled against anyone”.

REVIVRE MILANO – CALZEDONIA VERONA 0-3 (20-25, 18-25, 16-25)

REVIVRE MILANO: Bencz 8, Kauliakamoa Jr 1, Temponi Araujo 1, Patriarca 4, Rizzo (L), Mattera, De Togni 5, Dos Santos 8, Veres 12, Preti 1. DNP Bermudez, Cerbo, Valsecchi. Coach. Maranesi.

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 8, Coscione 3, Pesaresi (L), Gitto 5, Gasparini 11, Deroo 10, Bellei, Sander 14, Anzani 3. DNP Blasi, White, Centomo, Borgogno. Coach. Giani.

Verona made it seven wins in its last eight. They were the favourites and logically defeated Milan with the same result as the first meeting: 3-0. The attack was led by Taylor Sandler, the MVP, while they dominated both on the aces (6) and blocks (13).

Marco Maranesi (Coach Revivre Milano): “Once again, the serve made the difference for our opponents. This is a problem that has been repeating itself for us, while Verona built its success around their three jump servers. Besides, we have not been as good as usual in the reception-attack area”.

Andrea Giani (Coach Calzedonia Verona): “That was an important game we could not underestimate because Milan plays good volleyball despite its league position. We made a few mistakes in attack but the team had a good reaction to come back from behind in the first and second set, and turn things around in the third. We wanted the three points, we’ve been doing well of late and we’ve been working hard and the victories are giving us confidence”.

ALTOTEVERE CITTÀ DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO – EXPRIVIA NELDIRITTO MOLFETTA 0-3 (15-25, 21-25, 30-32) – ALTOTEVERE CITTÀ DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO: Franceschini 2, Teppan, Corvetta 1, Dolfo 6, Kaszap 1, Baroti 11, Tosi (L), Della Lunga 5, Aganits 1, Maric 3, Randazzo 6, Mazzone 7. DNP Lensi. Coach. Montagnani.

EXPRIVIA NELDIRITTO MOLFETTA: Candellaro 12, Noda Blanco 6, Sket 10, Del Vecchio, Spirito, Romiti (L), Bossi 7, Blagojevic, Hierrezuelo 4, Despaigne Jurquin, Torres 18. DNP Porcelli, Piscopo. Coach. Di Pinto.

Molfetta took maximum points out of its trip in Sansepolcro. Città di Castello just couldn’t keep up with Di Pinto’s men. MVP: Torres (Exprivia Neldiritto Molfetta)

Paolo Montagnani (coach Altotevere Città di Castello-Sansepolcro): “We got off to a good start but then we just became paralyzed on simple situations. We had obtained a good advantage in the third set too, but then we did not do what we had to do. We don’t have any safe play to turn too when we’re struggling because the team has problems which are not easy to solve at this stage of the season”.

Sergio Noda Blanco (Exprivia Neldritto Molfetta): “Good victory, it was not easy against a team that fought hard to overcome its problems. The third set was very hard but we’re glad we sealed it and took all three points. It was special for me to come back to a place that will always be in my heart”.

TOP VOLLEY LATINA – CMC RAVENNA 3-2 (18-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-15, 19-17)

Latina arrived first at the finish line of this marathon against Ravenna, which lasted over two hours. In the dying seconds of the tie-break, the referee had declared the game done and won for Ravenna, but the video check decided otherwise. In the end, Latina won it and took two points that led them over their opponent in the league table in sixth place.

Davide Pellegrino (Top Volley Latina): “I did not expect to start, and even less to play in the crucial moments of the game. I am glad with my performance and the result. We all know we have to be ready whenever we’re needed”.

Giuseppe Patriarca (Ass.coach CMC Ravenna): “The boys played a great game, it’s never easy in Latina. It’s been a spectacular game and credit must be shared between all the players who took part”.
