Just eight days after the Italian cup semi-finals in Bologna, Trentino proved it was stronger than Perugia once again. The two teams have met three times this season, and Trento has always come away with the victory. Thanks to this win, Stoytchev’s men remain unbeaten this season at home. However, once again they had to come back from behind to conquer this ninth consecutive victory. Perugia won the first set and was ahead in the second 7-5 when coach Stoytchev’s surprising move put Perugia off their game. Indeed, he sent on 18-year-old setter Giannelli on for Zygadlo and left him on till the end. That’s how the percentages of the attack went up and Trento celebrated another victory. I tried to stay composed and get my teammates in rhythm because it’s only as a team that we could win such a tough game, which had become even more difficult after the first set”.

After the first set, Trento got back on track and we lost our way. If Giannelli changed the game? I think the way we played, we’d have struggled against anyone”.

Verona made it seven wins in its last eight. They were the favourites and logically defeated Milan with the same result as the first meeting: 3-0. The attack was led by Taylor Sandler, the MVP, while they dominated both on the aces (6) and blocks (13).

We had obtained a good advantage in the third set too, but then we did not do what we had to do. We don’t have any safe play to turn too when we’re struggling because the team has problems which are not easy to solve at this stage of the season”.

The third set was very hard but we’re glad we sealed it and took all three points. It was special for me to come back to a place that will always be in my heart”.

Latina arrived first at the finish line of this marathon against Ravenna, which lasted over two hours. In the dying seconds of the tie-break, the referee had declared the game done and won for Ravenna, but the video check decided otherwise. In the end, Latina won it and took two points that led them over their opponent in the league table in sixth place.
