The Italian national team regrouped this morning in Cavalese as it prepares for the Melinda Volley Cup in Trento (August 27) and the coming World Cup in Japan. Among the selected players, four of them will wear the Trento shirt this season: setter Simone Giannelli, libero Massimo Colaci and spikers Filippo Lanza and Oleg Antonov. The latter took advantage of a break to visit Trento on Wednesday and chose his home in his new club.
“The Trentino region is like home to me, I am thrilled to be back where I began my career in 2001 – said Antonov – Fourteen years ago in Mezzolombardo I played my first youth championship in the club in which my dad used to coach the Serie B1 team. I have very clear memories from this period and especially the first games. We could never win against Trento! I can’t wait to face this new challenge. I talked to the lads in the national team who will be my teammates in the club and I understood the kind of club I am joining. A place where people expect the maximum, a club that aims high, where you have to work extremely hard and that’s exactly what I need to get better every day”.
