Three Macerata players will take part in the World League final six in Florence: Michele Baranowicz, Jiri Kovar and Simone Parodi. Italy won the trophy 8 times but its last success goes back as far as 2000. Italy was drawn in the group with the USA (Wednesday at 8.30pm) and Australia (Friday at 8.30pm).

“We started off brightly in the group phase – said Kovar – We finished first, so I am confident. We’ll try to get the best result possible against the best teams in the world. We’ll face top level games, details will make the difference: one dig, one rally. We’ll have to think one game at a time”.

And Baranowicz added “We’re working our socks off to be ready for the big games. Being able to play such a competition at home is a great feeling. The whole crowd will support us, that will give us that extra motivation”.
