Comfortable 3-0 win for Verona over Trentino, which made it two home wins in a row for them. Belgium spiker Sam Deroo was named MVP as he finished top scorer with 15 points at 61% in attack (2 aces). Trento had only lost two sets before this derby defeat. Verona had not beaten Trento in their PalaOlimpia arena since October 2008.
Sam Deroo (Calzedonia Verona): “We’re thrilled, we had a great game. They could have done better, but we played with the kind of fighting spirit we lacked on Wednesday in Piacenza. We did pretty well on the serve and put pressure on our opponent from the first point. In attack we scored mainly thanks to Coscione’s accuracy. We played composed and aggressive at the same time”.
