Del Monte Super Cup
Valerio Vermiglio and Alessandro Fei went opposite ways: Vermiglio who played for Macerata for four years signed this summer for Piacenza, while Fei joined the Italian champs this summer after two years at Piacenza. With its former club, Vermiglio won a Super Cup, two Italian Cups and a Challenge Cup from 2007 to 2011. As for Fei, he helped Piacenza win an Italian Cup and a Challenge Cup. Altogether, Vermiglio took part in 6 Super Cups and won four of them, while Fei won five out of five. They also played together, in Treviso, where they won the trophy three times in a row, in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Valerio Vermiglio (Copra Ardelia Piacenza): “Returning to Italy and immediately playing for a trophy against my last Italian team is a great feeling. This will be a great game, we’ll see where we stand and we’ll get some info on what to work. We have a big potential and a lot of experience, we’ll play with all our strength and determination to prepare for this event at best”.
Alessandro Fei (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Treia): “We have been playing well in pre-season, with a good attitude. We have prepared well for this Super Cup, on which we have been focusing for a few days now. Piacenza is a team I obviously know well: they have an excellent roster, with players that know how to face this type of encounters. We have been training well, we have a good group, a team built to win. And that’s what we want to do in this beginning of season”.
