Challenge Cup final return leg
Challenge Cup 2014, final game. Here we are, it’s time for one last battle, the decisive one. Latina began its European adventure on November 6 and became the last representative of Italy a few weeks ago. They’ve made it all the way to the final and took game 1 at the tie-break against Fenerbahce. Now they will have to fight for the trophy in a 7.000 seat arena in Turkey, special atmosphere guaranteed. The Italians will lift the trophy aloft if they win on any score. A golden set will be required if the game was to end on a 3-2 score for the Turkish, while Fenerbahce would be the one to celebrate if they won 3-0 or 3-1.
Dario Simoni (coach Andreoli Latina): “This is going to be another extremely difficult game. They will be really up for it and we’ll have to absorb their initial waves of attacks. The ideal would be to win the first set to contain them and put them under pressure. I expect it to be a pretty similar game than the first one. We have to aim to win at the distance, they have players used to win quickly who are not young and might get frustrated. We are aware of the fact they are the favourites, they have experienced stars who have won it all, but we have proved we could play with heart and that we never give up”.
