Ortona played its first home game of the new campaign against Matera as all the takings will be given to the Italian Red Cross. The first one was a winning one for Ortona but the task in hand had quickly become complicated when the hosts fell 2-0 behind. But they found the resources to bounce back to finish among the applause of the crowd in the fifth set.
“We got off to an excellent start but then at the end of the first set it’s like we had pulled the plug – said coach Lanci – We did a good job of staying in the game despite the fact we were failing to do things we’re usually good at. But they are positive notes: we improved at the net, we created a lot of counter attack situations even if we often failed to convert them. Still, I remain confident and happy with this victory”.
