Macerata and Trentino are the two teams that will fight it out i8n the Junior League final. This will be the second consecutive final for Macerata, who defeated Vibo, while Trento is back in the Under 20 title game two years after its first triumph in Modena. However, it was anything but easy for Trento who had to battle hard to dispose of the holders, Trento.
Meanwhile, San Giustino won the derby against Perugia to clinch fifth place.
Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata – Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-20)
Partenza bruciante dei marchigiani che volano subito sul 13-0, un maxi parziale con Vibo che fatica molto ad esprimere il suo gioco commettendo molti errori in attacco. I calabresi provano a ritrovare fiducia (16-3) ma il netto vantaggio di Macerata segna il set fino in fondo: il parziale si chiude senza sussulti 25-9. Ben differente l’avvio di secondo set: la Tonno Callipo c’è e passa a condurre 3-7, la Cucine Lube Banca Marche sembra subire la ritrovata aggressività dei calabresi ma con il muro e il contrattacco ritrova la parità a quota 12 e subito il controbreak (18-14). Un vantaggio che i marchigiani sfruttano fino in fondo chiudendo il set 25-17. L’inerzia del match sembra restare sempre in campo Macerata anche nel terzo set (9-5), Vibo ci prova con il muro (9-8). E’ il set più equilibrato, il punto a punto continua (16-16) finché il muro marchigiano non scava il break (19-16): anche in questo caso appena acquisito un vantaggio la Cucine Lube Banca Marche capitalizza al meglio e conquista la finalissima chiudendo parziale e partita (25-20).
Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo – Itas BTB Trentino 1-3 (22-25, 29-27, 25-27, 20-25)
Trento dominated the early initiatives (7-16). Cuneo soon ignited a come-back to get within 3 (14-17) and then within one but Trento eventually clinched it. In the second set a 14-10 and then a 16-13 lead were cancelled by Trento (19-19). It was then tight all the way as Cuneo tied the contest. With the momentum, they obtained 2 set points at 24-22 but could not convert and were punished. The fourth was another tight affair (13-13) but bthen Trento’s serve made the difference (16-19 then 18-22). There would be no way back for Cuneo.
Game for 5th place: Sir Safety Perugia – Altotevere San Giustino 0-3 (16-25, 18-25, 17-25)
In Potenza Picena’s PalaPrincipi arena, San Giustino had it all easy in the first set before the game got tighter in the second, although the end-result was the same. Third set finished with another comfortable margin in favour of San Giustino who clinched fifth place of the Junior League 2013.
