Trento won an electric and undecided game 5 till the very end to become Italian champion for the third time in the history of the club. Piacenza found the resources to fight back twice from 1-0 and 2-1 down but couldn’t stop Trento in the fifth. Just one year after beating Cancer, setter Sintini played to perfection and his MVP award was just the perfect happy ending to his life story. Something that was inconceivable just a few months back.

Giacomo Sintini (Mvp): “This is really the happy ending of an amazing story. I have spent a fantastic season here in Trento, who welcomed me after my long illness. It’s been a very tough game, I got on court and focused just one play at a time. I loosened up little by little and gained confidence. We did well to stick together and not to put our heads down in the tough times. Piacenza certainly never gave up. For many reasons, this second league title is really unique to me, I dedicate it to my wife, my daughter, to all my family, the doctors that have taken care of me, and all the people that stayed close to me during that difficult period. Hopefully, this success can send a message to the people that are ill and which I try to help through my association. The message I’d like to send is that it is possible to get better, you have to believe you can get back on your feet. One last thank you goes to the world of volleyball which has always been close to me and supported me”.
Emanuele Birarelli: “We really deserved this league title, we overcame all the difficulties of this series and never lost our way. It could have been easy to lose our focus after the second set lost or the third won, but we hanged on till the end and made it a beautiful story. We are extremely happy, but I think the man of the day is really Sintini”.
Raphael Vieira De Oliveira: “It’s been hard to be out of such a game but I think that at the end of the day, given how things went, it’s very nice that it ended that way. I am proud of this team and Jack Sintini. I am really proud to be his friend, and not only for what he did tonight. A title has never been more deserved”.
Osmany Juantorena: “We battled hard with all our strengths, this is a group that never gives up. This is the best league title I have ever won, in front of our fans. It could have been very hard, because Raphael is very important for us: congratulations to Jack who had a great game, it’s all thanks to him!”.
Matey Kaziyski: “We overcame all the difficulties and even more, this was an extremely difficult game which we earned thanks to our will and patience. I’d like to dedicate this triumph to my grand-father, who is the person who wanted it the most, if he was there with me he’d be happy and honoured. We managed to stay in the game all the time, we fought till the end, they never gave up and in the end just a few points made the difference”.

Luca Tencati: “It’s been a great game, even if we lost. There was a lot of pressure and we made some mistakes, while Trento found the winning spurt to triumph”.
Davide Marra: “We played face to face with Trento and getting all the way here was a great achievement. We are extremely disappointed but this remains a result we would never have imagined we could reach at the start of the season”.
Luca Monti (coach): “When you lose the title game you are obviously extremely disappointed. But we have to try to remember that we had a superb season, we have to be proud of reaching this tie-break of game 5 of a splendid final against Trento”.
