While six of the ten playoffs spot had been decided last week: Itas Diatec Trentino (1), Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata (2), Copra Elior Piacenza (3), Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo (4), Casa Modena (5) and Altotevere San Giustino (10), the rest of the league table and consequent playoff match-ups were defined today. There was a thrilling final rush for 8^th position between Castellana Grotte and Vibo Valentia, which was decided only by the set quotient. Perugia secured sixth place and goes directly through to the quarter-finals, Latina is 7^th, Castellana 8^th and Vibo Valentia 9^th. San Giustino is the last qualified team for the playoffs, which will kick off on March 13 with the live game on Rai Sport between Castellana Grotte and Vibo Valentia.

 

Formula

8th of finals. Teams between 7^th and 10^th meet with home and away games. Game 1 and possible decider will be hosted by the best classified team.

 

Quarters and semis: In each series, the best classified team at the end of the regular season will be given a one-game advantage. The first to 3 wins goes through. The best classified team will host game 3 and the possible decider.

 

Final. On the best of five games, Game 1, Game 3 and the possible deciding Game 5 will be hosted by the best classified team.

Given that there won’t be any relegation this season, all the 10 teams taking part in the playoffs as well as Ravenna and Verona will be in the Serie A1 2013/2014. Regular season winners in the A2, Città di Castello, as well as the future winner of the playoffs will also be part of the A1 next season.
