2013 CEV Cup

One win after another, Latina brilliantly made its way to the Cev Cup final in its full debut in a European competition. Prandi’s boys will take on Halkbank Ankara after knocking out the other team from Ankara in the semi-final by winning the return leg and the golden set. Coached by Veselin Vukovic, Ankara is currently second in their league, they have two players who played in Italy, the US spiker William Priddy (Vibo Valentia and Forlì) and Venezuelan outside hitter Luis Augusto Diaz (Vibo, Modena and Padova). Another dangerous player will be Ahmed Abdelhay.

Gianrio Falivene (President Andreoli Latina): “Story, you can either read it or write it. Now we have a chance to write it, with the help of our fans and everyone. Hopefully, the arena will be packed with people who love this sport. As for our opponent, I’ll only say that we have already beaten a Turkish team. This is such a historical moment that Latina’s town mayor will be with us for the two games, and I want to thank him for being so close to the team in those moments”.

If Piacenza was to go through, it would meet the winner of Ural Ufa (Russia) and Delecta Bydgoszcz (Poland).

Luca Monti (coach Copra Elior Piacenza): “We are totally focused on the first semi-final game against Liberec. We’re playing the first game at home and we must give maximum respect to our opponents. We haven’t had much time to prepare this game, which is why we’ll need even more determination from the start of the game. We’ll have to impose our rhythm and put our opponents under pressure. We cannot forget that a golden set would be played in Liberec, even if our intention remains to win both games to go to the final”.
