TRENTINO DIATEC – TOURS VB 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-16)

TRENTINO DIATEC : Kaziyski 14, Sintini, Birarelli 7, Juantorena Portuondo 4, Vieira De Oliveira, Uchikov 2, Lanza 5, Tzourits 6, Colaci (L), Stokr 14, Bari (L), Burgsthaler 1. Coach. Stoytchev.

TOURS VB : Simin, Hardy-dessources 7, Konecny 14, Exiga (L), Araujo Pinheiro 2, Dillies, BarÁnek 15, Smith 5, Ragondet 8. DNP Popp, Falafala, Guittet. Coach. Motta Paes.

Trentino made it possible on its first opportunity: it won against the French side of Tours and secured first place of the group with a game in hand. This means Stoytchev’s boys will be able to travel to Belgrade next week without any pressure but more importantly they should have a better draw in the playoffs 12 as it will face one of the seconds of the other groups. This was Trento’s 18th consecutive win this season and, just like in the first leg, Trento proved much stronger that Tours. Stokr won its match in the match against his compatriots Konecny and Baranek. Djuric had a good game too with 60% in attack and 3 blocks, while Kaziyski had 55% at the net. Nice contribution from the bench as Lanza, Sintini, Burgsthaler and Uchikov all played in the third set.

“We knew we were stronger and that might be a reason why we did not start at our best – said coach Stoytchev – But in the key moments we managed to change attitude and take this useful win, which will help us save energy in the next round in Serbia. We have not played a superb game, but I can understand the boys can’t always be at their absolute best with all the games we played in such a short space of time”.

ACH VOLLEY LJUBLJANA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 3-1 (25-23, 25-13, 22-25, 25-23)

ACH VOLLEY LJUBLJANA : Flajs 5, Kovacevic 19, Lewis (L), Sket 18, Sidibe 8, Petrovic 4, Jablonsky 5, Ropret 2, Rasic 9, Moreno 1. DNP Fabjan, Vidic. Coach. Slabe.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA : De Moraes Lampariello (L), Pajenk 6, Parodi 9, Stankovic 16, Partenio, Monopoli 2, Randazzo 3, Kooy 16, Tartaglione, Podrascanin 8. DNP Ricci, Diamantini. Coach. Giuliani.

Macerata suffered its first defeat of the season in Europe in Ljubljana. The Italians inserted a few players of the juniors team in the squad as they have many players injured or hit by the flu. This defeat has no influence on proceedings as they remain firmly top of the group with a two-point advantage on the Slovenians. They will just need one point in next week’s home game against Asse-Lennik, currently bottom, to secure top spot. Coach Giuliani surprised everyone by sending Dragan Stankovic as outside hitter (top scorer with 19 points, 50% in attack, 2 aces and 2 blocks), then there was setter Monopoli, Pajenk (big ovation for the Slovenian), Kooy, the young Randazzo and Lampariello libero.
