BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-20)

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Mastrangelo 5, Ngapeth 12, De Pandis (L), Wijsmans 9, Kohut 9, Grbic 3, Sokolov 16, Abdelaziz. DNP Antonov, Marchisio, Galliani, Della Lunga, Rossi. Coach. Piazza.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Corvetta, Papi 1, Fei 11, Ogurcak 9, Simon 8, Zlatanov 8, Holt 2, Tencati, De Cecco 3. DNP Latelli, Maruotti, Vettori. Coach. Monti.

Cuneo made the most of the home court advantage and swept Piacenza. All eyes were on Simon. The Cuban was back on court 25 months after his last game with his national team in the World Championships 2010 in Italy. Cuneo had 59% in attack and Piacenza 46%. MVP: Earvin Ngapeth.

Wout Wijsmans (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We played good volleyball, without losing our concentration if not maybe a little bit at the start of the third set. We played well and enjoyed ourselves, you can see it when a team is having fun”.

Frantisek Ogurcak (Copra Elior Piacenza): “Cuneo played extremely well, while we didn’t. That’s the difference. We did well in the first set with the counter attack we had worked on. But in the second and third, they have been better than us”.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – SIR SAFETY PERUGIA 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-19)

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lampariello, Zaytsev 10, Parodi 15, Stankovic 8, Henno (L), Travica 1, Starovic 14, Podrascanin 8. DNP Pajenk, Monopoli, Randazzo. Coach. Giuliani.

Macerata remains unstoppable in this beginning of season. Perfect run so far with 6 victories in the league, 2 in the Champions League and one in the Super Cup. Thanks to the latest, it stands six points clear of Trento at the top of the table as the two teams will face next weekend. MVP: Starovic with 3 aces in a row, 6 overall and 19 total points.

Alberto Giuliani (coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We did a great job of discouraging them from the first set. Then we controlled the game and took a 3-0 win that keeps us at the top with maximum points. Besides, that will save us some energy, which is important right now”.

Slobodan Kovac (coach Sir Safety Perugia): “It was tight only in the first set, that is until Macerata began to really hurt us with the serve, especially with Starovic. From that moment on, we just couldn’t do anything”.

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-14)

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE: Elia, Ricciardello, Paparoni (L), Falaschi 2, Sabbi 12, Ferreira 12, Yosifov 9, Cester 6, Casoli 8, Krumins. DNP Menzel, Dolfo, Ferreira. Coach. Gulinelli.

They needed a choral performance and Castellana did offer a great team display. Gulinelli’s boys were one gear above the surprise team so far, Vibo Valentia. A positive reception at 80% and an excellent game from setter Falaschi were key. MVP: Alex Ferreira with 12 points and 67% in attack.

Cristian Casoli (BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “We played well from start to finish, always focused on our task. We remained confident even when we were behind. We served fine, we took Farina out of its comfort zone in reception, and we made very few mistakes. Now we have to look ahead, this game is part of the past. We have to face the next one with the same mentality”.

Simone Buti (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “This is a defeat that will be useful for the future. We haven’t played as well as in recent games and made a few mistake too many. They did a good job of fighting on each and every point. They deserved the win”.

ALTOTEVERE SAN GIUSTINO – MARMI LANZA VERONA 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-19) – ALTOTEVERE SAN GIUSTINO: Fiore 4, Van Den Dries, Mc Kibbin 1, Cesarini (L), Bohme 5, Mattioli 6, Torre 1, De Togni 9, Cebulj 22. DNP Guttmann, Coali, Gradi, Lo Bianco. Coach. Fenoglio.

San Giustino registered its first league victory at the expense of Verona. Fenoglio’s team dominated in every department of the game. Clement Cebulj shined with 22 points while Verona made too many mistakes.

Marco Fenoglio (coach Altotevere San Giustino): “That’s a great satisfaction for us. We really deserved this victory, we dominated in every area of the game. We won 3-0 and played very well, I am extremely satisfied. Now let’s celebrate this victory before going back to work”.

Bruno Bagnoli (coach Marmi Lanza Verona): “San Giustino definitely had a great game, but it’s also true that we did not play well. We lost the serve-reception duel, we have been a bit soft and made a lot of mistakes”.

CASA MODENA – CMC RAVENNA 1-3 (22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 23-25)

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Catellani (L), Sala 4, Deroo 6, Quesque 5, Celitans 23, Kooy 13, Casadei, Vesely 1, Molteni 1, Baranowicz 3, Piscopo 6. DNP Pinelli. Coach. Lorenzetti.

Ravenna obtained its first win of the season and it did it in the derby in Modena in front of 3000 spectators. Fresa’s team played with great intensity, a perfect dig and aggressiveness on the serve. On the other side of the net, Modena had ups and downs. The MVP award went to setter Zhukouski, who registered 3 aces, 2 blocks for a total of 10 points.

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Casa Modena): “We have to learn to go through the difficult moments and do so by thinking as a team. Today, the boys understood what it meant to play in Modena. We have to get back to work with the same intensity as before but each player has to get rid of any useless thing that might be in the way”.

Mauro Fresa (coach CMC Ravenna): “We needed this win as much as we need the air to breath. We needed it for the boys that sacrifice every day in the gym. The dig has to become our trademark. Zhukouski is very young, he needs experience, but he has what it takes to play on the team that plays for the top part of the table. We’re still waiting for one more addition but in the meantime we’ll keep working hard”.
