Quite a strange atmosphere in the arena ahead of the big game. On Friday morning, president Molinaroli announced that the last game of 2012-13 would coincide with the end of Copra Elior Piacenza. Various scenes of protests occurred before and during the encounter. Still, Piacenza took all three crucial points to stay close to the leaders. Zlatanov scored 15 points and was named MVP, while Papi (14) and Fei (16) had excellent performances.
Luca Monti (coach Copra Elior Piacenza): “Unfortunately, we’re still lacking consistency, we still have to reach our best and learn to handle ourselves. De Cecco deserves a special mention for the way he coordinated the team after only four days of training. The only negative note was the first set, but it’s always tough to come back from a 4-5 point deficit”.
Lorenzo Tubertini (Assistant coach Casa Modena): “We put on court what was requested of us. Unfortunately, we have not been consistent on the serve, but the important thing is that we stayed in the game until the end. We had a chance to force a tie-break but it vanished on that last Piacenza point”.
