Another unforgetable night for Trento in Doha’s Aspire Zone Hall. The Italians swept the strong Brazilian team of Cruzeiro and won the World Club Championships for the fourth consecutive time. A feat that had never been achieved before. This is also Trento’s 12th title in 13 years of history, the seventh in five years on the International scene.

Trento needed its best volleyball and as the score line suggests, this victory was fully deserved and legitimate. The first two sets were one-way traffic while the Brazilians missed four chances to seal the third without success. Raphael orchestrated things perfectly for Trento, Stokr took over during the tough spells (71% at the net with 4 blocks) with Juantorena (60%) and Kaaziyski (64%). In the middle, Djuric and Birarelli also had a good impact, just like Bari (300th appearance today) and Colaci, who was superb in dig today.

Radostin Stoytchev (Trentino Diatec): “I couldn’t be happier and you can understand why. We had a splendid game, our team performance was fantastic, we have been working hard for years with all the staff and players, and this was our ideal of team play. I feel very lucky to be part of this team because I know there are a lot of clubs that work well and that dream to win trophies like this one. But only us managed to win this one four consecutive times, together with many other trophies. I want to dedicate this triumph to President Mosna, because it’s thanks to him that this era was open and thanks to him that I am on the Trento bench. I’ll never thank him enough for that. Our secret is to keep our feet on the ground, all the time, we did it tonight again and won the first two sets with a big margin. We did not think it was over, and we found the resources to cancel several set points and win the third. Even when we were behind in the scoreboard, I felt confident”.
