CEV Champions League 2013, list of teams


 


The CEV has communicated the list of teams that will take part in the Champions League 2013. The main news is the number of teams which will be 28 instead of the previous 24, for a total of 15 nations represented.


Just like last season, the Italian teams will be Macerata, the league winner, Trentino, the cup winner and Cuneo, as the playoff semi-finalist with the best regular season position.


Eight teams will be there thanks to a wild card: Knack Roeselare (Belgium), Marek Union-Ivkoni Dupnitsa (Bulgaria), VfB Friedrichshafen and Generali Unterhaching (Germany), Budvanska Rivijera Budva (Montenegro), Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle (Poland), Tomis Constanta (Romania) and Dinamo Moscow (Russia). First ever participation for Berlin (German champion), Dupnitsa (Bulgarian champion) and Constanta (Romanian champion).


The draw of the group phase will take place on June 29 in Wien. There will be 7 groups of 4 teams.

Macerata, Modena and Trento into the Under 18 Final 16


 


Lube Banca Marche Macerata, Casa Modena and Itas Diatec Trentino are the latest three teams to qualify for the Under 18 national championship final 16 to take place in Trieste from June 7 to June 10. These last three will join Cuneo, Treviso and Vibo Valentia, which had already qualified in the second phase. 10 more teams still have to get their tickets for the finals. Last year, Cuneo became champions at the expense of Castellana Grotte.
