The FIPAV Federal council, which met today in Roma, approved the Sustainability project presented by the Italian Volleyball League.

The first step is to eliminate the relegations for one year from the A1 to the A2 and the consequent diminution from 4 to 2 between the A2 and B1.

Serie A1 2012/13

– 14 teams or less (but not less than 12);

– 3 Italians always on court out of 7;

Serie A2 2012/13

– 16 teams or less;

– 5 Italians always on court;

– League winner promoted in A1;

– 10 teams in the playoffs, winner goes in the A1;

– Two teams to go down if there are 15 or 16 teams registered. One relegation if there are 14 or less teams registered.

– In case of 2 relagation: there will be a playout to be played with four teams.

Serie A2, Youth project

A limitation of the “Over” in the A2 will be introduced in order to improve the formation of young players.

– 2012/2013 – Maximum of four players (Italians or foreigners) born 1981 or before.

– 2013/2014 – Maximum of three players (Italians or foreigners) born in 1982 or before.

100 thousand Euros will also be distributed to the clubs which will use only Italians Under 23 (Born 1990 and after), with a maximum of 4 players, still Italians, over 23 (born 1989 and before).

Financial and point reward (to be defined more precisely in future meeting) will also be given to the clubs with major focus and best results of its youth department.
